Spade Club

Did a search, and surprisingly no results...

Anyway, anyone have any experience with this group? Seems to me like each daily money tourney and weekly/monthly tournies for decent (to some) money will just be big freerolls?

Which is squat compared to the hundreds/thousands one pays monthly in buy ins. Granted, the prize pools at the major sites are much bigger..
  • From what I know, it's basically a series of freerolls you play to accumulate points that can be used to buy into the bigger freerolls.

Yes, this is my basic understanding as well. Sounds VERY "tilty".

I am hoping maybe some members here actually have or do play there and can give some insight to it though..i wouldn't mind trying it out...I guess it is only 20 bucks...the cost of one sng...lol

  • My concern (even though I have no personal experience) is what is the rake on your monthly membership, ie how much is paid back to players? Do they define that anywhere? Without knowing that you could be paying 100% or more rake...

This . . . even getting raped by Party's rake seems preferable.

Hmm..valid question...I shall write them and ask. :)
  • I will ask tomorrow at lunch aswell as the father inlaw is a member. I think from what he told me its $20 a month unlimited play and they keep the monthly (membership fees of $20). I guess its a good idea if people want to have unlimited play and a chance at some money without having to put to much of your own at risk, i have wondered about this site too. Any more info is appreciated.
  • Here is the short of what i was told about it.

    $20 per month fee
    unlimited play.
games range from $10 to a monthly $30,000 game with weekly $500,$1000 and $5000 games (the larger games require tokens to get into, so you have to satty in to these)

game sizes range from 100-180 players for the smaller events and 1000-1500 for the larger events.

Here is the huge downside imo. Spade club is an american company and no matter what your winnings amount is, it is subject to a 30% witholding for taxes. (this can obviously be claimed back at, but it could be a pain).

If you have a number of small wins and want to avoid the 30% you can use your winnings towards your monthly fees aswell.

    hope this helps,
  • thanks mike, still waiting to hear from them on the rake aspect too. the 30% is not something I am interested in dealing with though...

  • Dear Dennisbspt,
Thanks for your question! Check out my response below.
I would like to know the amount of rake paid on the tourneys here. ie: how much of the 20/mo goes back to the players in prizing? Is there a link to somewhere that shows the breakdown?
There is no rake here. We award over $100,000 per month in cash and prizes.
    Good luck at the tables,
    SCKenny

[FONT=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]Thanks for the reply, I do realize that you give over 100k per month...but how much of the the 20dollars per month goes directly back to the players? How many premium members are registered monthly vs how much is given away in prizes?

scam imo..... they could be taking in $500K or more and only paying out $100k... I would avoid it like the plague...
  • These sites have been around for a while with several skins, spade club, bluff club, wpt, will hill poker club, power poker club, etc.. Not a scam, mostly for those who play for fun, enjoy freerolls etc.
  • I wouldnt say that i would avoid it. It depends on what kind of game you want to play. The father inlaw said he enjoys it for the $20 and he also says he is a winning player on the site. So if that donktard can be a winning player i wouldnt dismiss it so quickly.

ffs, if he see's this i'm in big trouble. :)

  • Well they claim to have over 1 million members, so if that's right and they charge $20. per that's $20M per month.. Where's all that money going?

  • Ok. I have talked to Kenny quite a bit and he is a great guy. He actually mentored me when I played on SpadeClub for a year.

The site is about practising and making a bit of scratch doing it.

The community is tight and players have a profile page that shows final tables, bounties etc and a community blog page. Kenny does some pretty fun q and a's and sometimes asks you to read a hand blind. You have to qualify for the larger events and there is fantastic players. Many who get featured in cardplayer and they give away packages. The points system is pretty genorous but still makes a player practise bankroll management and you can whip through them fast trying to skip steps in tiered quailifiers or larger events by playing on tilt or by not playing your A game.

The 30% with holding sucks, but they operate under sweepstakes law. As for how much they take in as far as payout....who cares? It is their business. Why? Because you can play unlimited poker till you are sick in the face and make money. For really good players, the time invested would be better on the mainstream deposit sites. There are a few varations of poker to play for people learning new games and do not want to be playing 12000 freerollers for a small prize.

BUT, I think anyone looking to try different sdtrategies, gain confidence in bubble play etc gains huge. It still takes some work to go deep so the pressure to cash is still there, but it gives a buffer for players to get comfortable through repetion.

$1 made me $400, and I didn't win any majors and only played recreationaly. I still play their SNGs to qualify for the main events and prasctise. They have omaha and heads up tables to practise. Most of the large numbers of members are basic, which means they don't get to play everything but keeps it legal, hence why it seems they take in so much. But basic members have advertising they are forced to look at as paid subscribers do not.

The good news, we have an affilate deal Dennis. 3 weeks free using bigslickpokertour for the promo code or jontm for 2 weeks.

Spadeclub is a perfect site to transition to winning online play, experiment and to learnbankroll management, so yes more of a beginer site than some. Take your ego out and you want be disapointed in this tool. It gets players over blaming "donks" and software without costing them shit loads. Good practise for all low limit styles.

If you don't make enough money to pay monthly dues and get some small checks, well, look for leaks :)

They payout fast like cheques come from vegas in about 2 weeks tops.

The shumans own it, they wouldn't jeapordize their reputation.

    Hope it helps
