When it's your day ... it's your day ...
Well, today was a day I wish I had been playing a 1M tournament or a high stakes cash game, or both. Instead, being the cheep guy I am, I stepped down lower to what I normally play (.50 - 1.00) to .02 - .05. My reason for this was to see more flops and play a more varied range of hands that I normally wouldn't touch with 50 or a 100 $$$ at a table. It worked in my favor for sure and I'm certian I pissed a few people off playing loose as I did and taking down some pots. Here is the downfall to my streak.
After winning some pots, I had 16.99 at the table when I got two great looking rockets. I was under the gun and knew from playing at the table for some time that my opponents were tight players, so against my judgment, I limped hoping to get a raiser in early or middle position to re raise in an attempt to maximize my hand.
Like I figured, the table folded, except the big blind who made a HUGE over bet of $1.00 (remember, .2 - .5 cent table). He probably thought I had a weak hand from the way I had been playing so I didn't want to re raise to indicate the strength of a real hand. I called.
Flop: A A K! Ka - ching!!!
I had no time to think how I was going to play the turn cause he went all in with his remaining $6. Insta call and here comes the turn ...
Turn: A A K K
Quads over quads. Never happened to me before which is why I wanted to tell this story. After muddering some choice words to me about how I played at the table, he left and I danced!!! )
The only downfall to this great story is I was not playing a big tournament at the final table nor was I playing a big enough $$$ game for that hand to impact my bankrol in any significant way.
After, I was wondering if anyone else had some out of the ordinary stories to share.
