Hey fellow poker junkies ... )

Just wondering what peoples' thoughts are out here on extended registraton at PS.

I''ve tried a few different sites, but PS by far is the one I like most. This is for many reasons, but mainly due to the number of people who over value their hand ... an opportunity we all can't wait to run into, and, I am certian we too are guilty of from time to time.

Extended registration is one aspect of PS I do not like and it is something available in 99 percent of the tournaments.

Curious about a couple things if anyone cares to share there opinion.

1) what do you think of extended registration?

and,

2) Can anone recommend a site that offers good tournaments with a half decent prize pool devoid of extended registration? I'll stick with PS for the ring games.

I have tried Titan, but didn't care for the visual format. Tried FT a long time ago and got crushed (but,it was my first week ever playing on line so probably just inexperiance) and UB for a couple years.

Any thoughts and opinions would be welcomed.

I think the late registration is a good thing. If people want to register late and join with a disadvantage in chips (after several people have already busted) I say let them. Also, if you are running behind and are a couple of mins late you wont miss your fav tournies.

Other than FTP/Titan, your only other options are UB/AP (sites known to cheat players), Party Poker (might be the best option), something on Ongame (if you don't like Titan's interface you will probably hate theirs), Cake (similar response as to ongame) or maybe even Pacific.

Just my 2 cents.

I hate late registration. When the tourney starts, I want to know how many people are in it....not add 500 to the count. Late comers don't start at a disadvantage in chips...their blinds aren't taken out...so, starting late is a distinct advantage...yeah sure some donkeys are out, but, anyone that has been playing tight has lost the laps of blinds...I quit playing most major sites mtt's for that very reason (late reg.)

I play on Merge..soft and no late reg. Small mtt's though.

I'm beginning to learn that late registration doesn't matter since I'll be stuck in the tournament for many hours anyway. A tournament is always a marathon, so it has never really bothered me that much.

FTP is great though, gotta love how a lot of people register late for the 50$ super turbo KO tourneys

HATE HATE HATE it, so I am the total opposite of "online pros" on this, but I would rather play smaller fields with more cashes then play a big one for 12 hours and better chance of getting nothing.


I like stars cap tourney's they brought along and hope they do more of them as I only want to do 4 hours max for a mtt unless of course it is going for a big payday.

I think the late registration thing has gone overboard. It should be 1 level max, not 1 hour. It's ridiculous. In a live tournament late registration is always 1 level max. I know the levels are shorter online etc, but if you can't make a tournament after 15 minutes, play another.

It's one thing to keep it open to build a prize pool but as already posted it is not done correctly to begin with.

Late registration is only for the 'Guarenteed' tournies.

For the record, I like the late reg.....the only issue I have seen is there aren't many overlays (if any) any more.

For the PLO tournies (30 - 50 buyin), it has increased the field size probably about 30% - 40%.......for which I can find no downside.

I wish I could self exclude myself from late registering in Turbo's.....damn I waste alot of monies doing that.

Yeah, I love the late registration on the guaranteed tournies....I find myself gettin caught donating to the turbo late registrations alot.

I am not a fan of late registration but figure it is a rub of the green. No different than most live tournaments where you can buy in late or if there are alternates.

Yeah, but in a live tourney you are blinded down for missing the laps. I think the same should happen online, have an average for all the tables and blind people down that much when they enter. Won't happen though as the sites want to make sure they don't have to dish out on the overlays.

Your typically only blinded down if the seat is paid for, if you show up late and just buy in they hand you your chips, you sit and play at full stack.

If you paid for your seat up front and show up late yes you are blinded out.

Ok sure, your not paying for the blinds that you have missed but your walking into a field of players that typically already have information on there villians as well as more chips. I play FT exclusively and have for a few years now. Once they open up the late registration it just enabled me to join a tourney that I would have normally missed by seconds getting a drink/smoke/dealing with the kids whatever.

I do agree that the 1 hour long late registrations for the massive tourneys are a little ridiculous but oh well. More money in the pot. Suck it up I say.

I happen to like the late registration for many reasons .. tho an hour might be a bit much. I hate missing my fav tourney if I am running just a bit late. If I choose to buy in at the last minute before the reg is closed I think it is at a disadvantage in most cases as you are entering with the blinds already raised a few levels, and you will have to risk more to gain the info that those who have been in since the beginning have been able to gain for cheap. It is however most advantageous when you are entering say a 1R1A where I can get the max chips right before the donkfest ends and the poker begins.
