I met All Aces yesterday!
I wa slucky enough to win entry into Stars 10,000 FPP wpt tourny yesterday. First table and 2 seats to my right was ALL ACES.. It turns out he is a very nice guy and and a great time playing against him for the couples hours I got to. He's a class act and was even nice enough to give me a few chips..
I was doinggreat in the tourny and got up to 3rd spot before totally blowing things on 2 bad reads and a weak call. I had 9K or 10K with 130 or so left and instead of coasting managed to throw away 7k on 2 bad plays.. first one loosing 4k+ on I was in sb with AQclubs raised it to 300 on 50/100 blinds and got one caller in MP. flop hit T4T 1 club. I bet 500 and mp comes over me for 1k. Now bells and whistles are going off I know he missed the flop and somehow I managed to talk myself into thinking I was still ahead in the hand. My mistake here was not thinking of what the guy in MP might call 300$ with from middle position. Anywho I pushed back over his 1k all in having 2:1 chip stack over him to be called and see him flip 77. Turn hit a club giving me 15 outs on the river but it missed leaving me 4500 or so and my 2 railbirds saying WTF? to me ..
Anyway to sum up I finished 71st of 233 (not bad for a moron) and got to meet a very nice Canadian Poker Pro....

ps: I watched the final table of that sat., just because of the enourmous amount of pressure that situation must have created. Of the 9 people at the table, 5 would get nothing, and 4 would get WPT seats. When they got down to 6 or so, two of the players had big enough leads that they could easily have sat out and blinded their way to a seat. Instead, they continued to play, even in some big pots, against each other. It's a little sad to think that these are the players who are WPT-bound, but hell, they got the seats and I didn't, so what do I know... Personally, I'd be folding aces at that point, so I figure they might as well have sat out.
