  • jontm, is it true that Fallsview Casino finally got some common sense and registered their three events for free as CPT events? If so, I may now play any seats I win instead of selling them.
  • I was under the impression from local poker room managers that the CPT charges a pretty hefty fee for registering as CPT events.
  • They don't actually make anything most times. We want the events sanctioned but as of last week, nothing. The CPT is the driving force for the Canadian Poker Player Magazine and things like the cruise or other affiliate deals is where revenue comes from. K-sino clothing is another example. MAgazine adds make revnue and the more casino's they are in and who advertise the better.

Fallsview, well hopefully by the time this is all over something can be worked out. We would be happy just to get it sanctioned and have the playerz rewarded by earning their points.
  • John, can you find the chips and structure for these? I'm particularly interested in the PLO event, but also the $500 NLHE event.

I'll likely come down, but only if there are 10K + chips and a decent structure (for the PLO at least).
  • John...what is event number 1?? Any hotel deals going on nearby for players? I wouldn't mind coming and playing the 13th and 14th for my birthday :)

Not sure about specials, but there is a hotel attached to the casino.

calgary south hotel and Casino - Calgary South Hotels

I don't think there is another one real close (if memory serves).
  • they are working on a deal for rooms I think, have a call in now. Event 1 is a NL holdem.

Also ask about structures, gonna be talking to them shortly try to get a PDF.

not making money "most times" would imply making money "some" times yes?
But there is a fee yes? It's not free as blonde fish put it. The card rooms have to weigh the cost of the fee against the benefit of advertisement provided by the CPT.
  • Exactly, PokerKai, but the fees come more from international events best of my knowledge. I am not sure if any Canadian room is paying and am under the impression they are not.

As far as the structure PDF, Ron said he should have them this week (so by after Christmas realisticly), just tweeking a few things and looking to get players the most value. As kai pointed out, the card rooms also play a big role in this, profit vs staff.

any word on cost of this one yet? Might bring a couple to play the 13th and 14th..

the edmonton card rooms are paying the fee. im not sure why theres this impression that its a free service by the CPT. they are a business and a publicly traded company. why would they do it for free? its not bad that they charge, they are offering a valuable service to the cardrooms, its logical...but its naive to think they would do it for free.

its probably why they are capable of offering the reduced rates for CPT members to these tournaments.
  • $225 for the first event, Dennis, sprry about the delayed response, can't log in on my phone. And Merry Christmas!
  • Thanks Jon, working on making it over for the 13th/14th, and see how we do from there...
  • Don't forget my.........Attachment not found.

I cannot find anything about this magazine online or in stores. What is the website?
  • The magazine is distributed in casinos and by mailout. CPT | Canadian Poker Tour - Home is the CPT site.

    Can I subscribe?
I cannot find any info on the site for the mag.
  • The subscription is included in the annual CPT membership and includes swag, discount admins and other perks as well as being eligible in the players point race. Unfourtunatley, it is offered seperstly yet, but we are working on figuring out a tier system...maybe. Currently the membership is 99.75 a year and you can find a link at that site.

Wait until next week, alot of big things should happen at the players point championship, I will return with any news.

    Thanks for the interest!
  • sorry Jonboy, doesn't look like i am gonna make it over this run...too much going on here I do believe. Soon, though.
