wtf is a redirect loop?

I can't open GTA's new thread or Merry xmas madness because they have a 'redirect loop'.. wtf is this and how do I bitch slap my computer back into submission?

I followed Chrome's suggestions about what to do and I STILL can't open them..it is starting to piss me off.

    It's a Chrome buggy. All of Zithal's threads have the same issue with Chrome. Google redirect loop and chrome and you will see tons of other people with the same issue elsewhere. FWIW doing whatever Chrome suggests to fix the problem = completely useless.

    The one thing that worked on the other thread I started with this problem was erasing all the symbols from the title...when Graham did that for me in the 'CPF game now' thread I was able to read it.

    Mods, do you think you could erase the symbols from either GTA's thread in OT or (better yet) from MXM thread so I could see if that's the problem?

    I think I found it, and even downloaded Chrome to see what is going on. You can always go to the section where the thread is, right click on the thread and select "COPY LINK" to do it, without going into it.

    I'll let you know if I figure it out.

    Ok, that makes no sense at all. I removed the "@" symbol from the title and now it works.

    Weird huh? With the "CPF game now" thread it was originally "CPF game now~~~" and I couldn't open that until the "~"s were removed.

    GTAPoker has a thread with the same problem active in Off topic aorn.

    Yea, that one had an @ symbol also. I have posted on the vbulletin support forums to see if anyone knows how to fix this, but until then there is not much I can do. For now if people could try not to use symbols in the thread titles, that would be great, and if some do get created and you get the error, just send me a PM and I will change it. Sorry.

    No prob, or the other option is use firefox ;) They at least don't collect data on your surfing patterns afaik

    Graham, I don't think you can fix this issue as I'm quite sure it has more to do with how certain browsers interpret query strings.... Specifically Google Chrome took a lot of shortcuts to make their browser more streamlined but payed for it with issues like this. Does anyone have the problem with IE? It is possible but much less likely...

    I erased firefox from my computer, and would've done the same with IE..but it wouldn't let me.

    This is the first time Chrome has ever let me down imo
