is this table a good price?

have been scouting out table options and came across this one here. Nice looking table IMO. $1400 for the one pictured. Just looking for opinions on the price...does it seem steep? a deal? anyone have one of these tables?

  • You can get far nicer for far less. Dont overestimate the footing. Its never really noticed imo, and that is what youre paying for in this particular case.
  • Check kijiji for some nice deals.

+1. Nicer tables, as opposed to nicer legs. Although the whole thing is great . . .
  • Crummer has some beauties, but the price is still up there.

Here's a similar table to the OP, with less fancy legs.

I have been in touch with Bob but they seem to be on some sort of hiatus because I haven't heard from him in several days..

Yep and you can try them out at his Sunday tournies.

Definitely go with building your own table. You can make yourself a table that's just as good as one you could buy for less than half the price. I made my own table, and overall I spent about $250 in materials. Of course, there's nothing wrong with buying a pre-made table if the money isn't an issue. There's some great looking tables on those sites.

I know, I've been to Stu's place. I didn't know he sold the tables online.

This is the one I want, but with sturdier legs.
  • Very nice, but I'd lose the dealer cut out, and the chip tray for a home game.

Actually, I like that blue better than the red.

This is such a silly mistake that EVERYONE makes...

There is always a kid that will deal the night for $10/person..

If you're there to have fun, what difference does $10 make?
If you're there for profit, they get out more H/hr and drive the action. (esp if you tip)

There is NEVER an excuse to not have a dealer.
  • I'm probably in the minority but I hate, hate, hate race tracks on tables. They looks fabulous but I can't stand the noise of chips on solid wood. I feel like the Grinch, "all the noise noise noise!". I'm not a fan of cup holders on the rail either, not very comfy on the arms. And not a dealer cutout fan either lol
    What a grump!

    +1,

Also... You don't want a oval style table if you are not going to have a dealer.

Have you ever tried pitching a card from the 3 spot to the 9 spot on an oval table....

Have you ever seen random poker players do it successfully?
  • Not disagreeing with your statements, but would like to point out that most home games are self dealt affairs. Having said that, were I stocking a club, then I would definitely include the cut out and tray options.

This doesn't really make sense obv.

If you're buying a table you intend to host, and may set the tournament up anyway you like...

for the reasons stated in my post above a table with a dealer cut out is superior and you're not spending 500+ on a table to host intentionally shitty tournaments are you?

I don't think moose hosts shitty tournies. The tables I played on at his place did not have trays or cut outs (I think).

    All I'm saying is this:

Home game, self dealt > > > NO CUT OUT

Club type location/atmosphere > > > CUT OUT and TRAY
  • I'm debating if you were citing Moose's so that I would back down, or on the off chance that he might take it personally and drop a drama bomb...

either way..home games SHOULD (and for $10/head COULD) have a dealer..it is just cheapness/laziness that stops most people.

Also you ignored what reef said about self dealing on oval tables, it is a pain in the ass.

Oval tables, are marginally better than any old fold out table..but they are not as good a table with a dealer obv. Again, why spend 500+ and not 100 more to get the best?
  • My comment would be, always invite the Beanies and Waltsfriend and you are covered. We are SO lucky that not only do they like to deal but are also GREAT dealers.

    lol . . . soul read.\
  • You're trying to get me killed, aren't you moose? I already have a set on the way . . .

Anyways, forget tables, it all starts with a decent set of chips.

Muddguts, did you find a table you liked?
  • Yes I really really do.

I am leaning towards TG tables. They are close enough that I can pick up and the price is good. I could make my own (which I will attempt at some point) but for just a little more money, I can pay someone experienced to do it for me and it will be much better than my first attempt!

If anyone has experience, good or bad with TG Tables, feel free to PM me and let me know your opinions
  • Playing at his games, his tables are very solid and good quality. He also seems like a straight up guy.
