God bless this H1N1 scare

So my 6 yr old daughter stays home from school Thursday with a fever and sore throat. Last night she's up most of the night, fever gets worse, so this morning it's off to the clinic!

Clinic opens at 9, we get there at 8:50... There's 32 people ahead of us... I figure we'll be out of here by 2012. At 9:15 we get to reception... I present health card and discribe problem... The receptionist takes my daughter's temp... And wham bang... escorts right into an empty room to await the doctor!

Apparently they don't want feverish children coughing in the waiting room... so we jump to the head of the line... Ha Ha... I try not to smirk on our way out!

but there was a riot huh???

1st problem is you went to a clinic.:)
  • Tangent: the hospital will have a waiting list of available family physicians, also you might look in surrounding cities..an hour is only a long time to drive if you AREN'T going to be sitting at the walk in all afternoon.

    Hope she feels better soon!
  • I remember the exact same thing with my daughter when she was much younger. As soon as I told the receptionist the symptoms, we were immediately ushered into a room away from the waiting room. Had to be about 20 others there ahead of us.

Turned out it was chicken pox, and they didn't want to risk infecting other kids in the room.

We have a pediatrician... and he's actually in the same building as the clinic... but he's off for a week. (called yesterday... the receptionist mentioned going to the clinic if things got worse... I have a suspicion that she knew about the no waiting)

Thank-you... she 'felt' better as soon as we mentioned a doctor's visit!
