  • It's strange that Fallsview decided to overlap the tournaments even though there's only three. Most players can't afford to buy in directly for $5,500 to play on January 12, but those who make it past Day 2 of the $2,500 event may be able to afford to, but they would be shooting themselves in the foot because four hours after starting the $5.5K event, they may be forced to give up to resume play in Day 3 of the $2.5K event. I'm not sure if Ontario's infamous gaming regulations would allow a player to register and play in two events and multi-table, ala the WSOP where some degenerates kept going back and forth between different tables.

I was told that the $90 satellites ran on Friday and today. It is probably similar to the crapshoot structure of last year's WPT satellites. Hopefully, there will miraculously be enough forum interest to have +EV rake-free home game satellites this time, but if not, I will come out of LIVE retirement and carpool/drive to Fallsview next weekend.

And miss the Royal? A chance to really show the world who the best players are!
  • I wouldn't expect too much from the $1,000 tournament, especially with 5,000 in starting chips. Probably end up with 20 minute blinds. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Blind levels for all 3 tournaments ($1K, $2.5K and $5K) will be 60 minutes in length.

This makes it very similar to a WSOP $1500. event. 500 more chips (5K vs 4500) and same blind length. I have no issue with the structure of the tournaments themselves, just the satellites. Can't believe the 1K satellite is also completely bingo. Even it's a push fest after 30 min.
Depending on how I do in Vegas this trip I may play the 1k, just the fact that there is no withholding makes it +ev....

And thank you for posting these details... Even if you get beat up over blind structures, don't worry about it, we know you aren't setting them...
  • I don't like this overlap at all. Aim for 1&3, or just 2, or just 3. why why why?

I would imagine this has to do with balancing the number of resources per day they need. Otherwise (running events back to back to back) they may end up needing 30 dealers day 1, maybe 12 day 2, then 1 day 3, then 30 day 4, etc... This way the total numbers of dealers needed per day is a little flatter..
Vegas has a much larger critical mass of dealers so it's a little easier there...
However WSOP overlaps lots of events...

that's good; can you keep us posted on how many seats remain for each tournament? Actually I'm in Florida from Jan 2 to 13 so I guess no tourny for me :(
  • I give credit to FV for at least attempting some sort of tournament series. Like cattle we will all now make the pilgramage down to play. I know I will be. Maybe on of these years I will actually satellite into one of these things instead of finishing second...hahaha

My goal will be to play a couple of 350s and satellite into the 2.5K...just play 3 and I have 3K :)

With only 5000 starting chips and 300 cap, I doubt the first event will last 3 days (assuming playing 10-12 levels per day).

2nd event may go a little longer, possibly final table 3rd day?

But, yeah, overlapping 2 & 3 seems counterproductive.

It is highly unlikely that there will 15-hour days. Probably more like5 or 6 levels (8 hours).

Where are the levels/starting stacks/etc posted?

    k...was assuming longer days.

will multi-tabling be allowed if people wish to play all events?

lol, yes, roller blades provided... Honestly, would anyone other than a real degenerate really try this? Seems like you would really be giving up ev...

It's a long way for me to go to play 2 events at the most....

Wouldn't likely play both at the same time, but if you make it to day 3 in one, play that out, and you have your seat in the next event when you busto.

If it looked like day 3 would take a long time, I probably wouldn't choose to play the next event....but with a cap of 300, you may have to pre-register to ensure your spot (or are they likely to fill the bigger events?).
  • Blind Structure will be DIFFERENT between the $5K and the other two tournaments.
