Canada Poker Legislation, Anything to worry about?

Just wondering if there is anything underway, or if you guys uspect anything in the near furture in regard to Canada trying to ban online poker and so on..like the US is doing?

  • To my knowledge, there is nothing for Canadians to worry about, at least not right now.

The US legistration will soon be changed as well, so I wouldn't worry about their changes affecting Canada much either.

It is NOT illegal to PLAY poker.
  • It isn't illegal to play online poker, but it is illegal to play poker in person outside of a casino in most provinces. Some provinces have legalized poker for charity but the "big three", Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia, have not. Sign the petition to legalize poker in Canada: Canadian Poker Petition.

FAIL. You really should do some research before making such a sweeping generalization.
  • From what I understand is most of the laws are related to running a gaming house. As a player I don't think you really have much to worry about, but if you are profiting from running a game then you might be breaking the law.
  • It's legal to play outside of a casino, as long as the host is not taking a rake.
