This coming Sunday (Nov 28) on CBC Venture there will be a segment on poker. Reporter/producer Margo McDiarmid reached my by phone prior to the recently completed Canadian Poker Tour events in Regina and then flew out to Regina to cover the action and learn about the exploding business of poker. The story is about the explosion of poker and the attempts of some of us who are involved in poker as a business (I am 1/3 owner of Canadian Poker Player Magazine and the Canadian Poker Tour).

I will be enjoying a one week holiday in the Dominican Republic when it arrives on your TV. If I come off looking like an arrogant a** or I make poker look bad, someone give me a call and I will stay out of the country.

    My girlfriend wrote this program into her scheduler and has been reminding me for days, "that show is on this Sunday, you know with those guys from that Internet Forum your on". Needless to say, it is at the highest priority for my Sunday afternoon. Totally looking forward to it.

    I am really looking forward too this show this Sunday night. Really the first on air press that the CPT is getting. This shall be great!

    Reminder too everyone... CBC Venture with Dave Scharf will be on tonight at 7:30pm central standard time. He is going to be on the second half of the show, as well as some coverage of the Harvest Poker Classic as well. Should be real good, dont miss out!

    all_aces I get to see Venture in half an hour from where I am. I am glad that Dave Scharf came off great to the camera. :)

    I have a question though. Does it show much of him in the Harvest Poker Classic tournament? And do you have a cameo from the breakfast?

    With reagards to the Harvest Poker Classic... yes and no. Yes in that they use a lot of those shots for cutaways, but no in that they never really focus on a hand, or see a hand through to completion. The show wasn't about poker so much as it was about the business of poker.

    As for my cameo's, I counted precisely zero. No breakfast shots. And hell, they even fanned out a bunch of CPP magazines, all except for the one I was on the cover of, lol. My mom is going to be very disappointed. ;)

    Just got done watching

    "The Gambler" on CBC Venture... WOW!

    Dave, I must say you came off GREAT! I have no doubts in my mind that the CPT will get a television deal in the near future... I am there with you 110%!!!

    And the cameo's of the Harvest Poker Classic from Casino Regina was great. All those tables, all those poker players, WOW! I cant wait for March too roll around (which is the next CPT Casion Regina event)!!! I will be there and I know it will be great.

    As well as I cannot wait for the final announcment on the $1 Million Dollar prize pool tournament ending the first ever CPT season... it shall be great.

    I taped your segment on Venture Dave and added it to my poker collection along with my WSOP, WPT tapes... Negreanu on OTR tape and now you! :) I loved it.

    Glad I tuned in earlier and congrats on a good segment. I thought the breakfast piece was sliced. Perhaps my girlfriend will get me a certain magazine subscription for Christmas. ;)

    I recorded it on my PC, and have converted it to DIVX (to shrink the file). If people want a copy of it, PM me, and I'll give you a username and password for my FTP server.

    (it's about 39Mb file)
