Bluewater Classic ME badbeat

Well, I'm still choked about this but I can accept it because it happens but what are the chances!!!

Blinds 100/200 ante 25

UTG +1 w/ 78s have been playing very conservatively bet 3x BB everyone folded BB calls (who also was the chip leader not only at our table but in the whole tourney at that time approximately 40K)

Flop: 4c 5h 6c Fantastic I flopped the nuts with a flush scare

BB checks I bet 1k he bumps it up to 2.5K I move all in with another 4K total. He doen't even think about it but sheepishly calls the extra 2.5k guess guess he didn't believe I hit with any of those community cards!?!? He shows 4 2 for bottom pair and no flush draw vs my 8 high straight. Great I am still alive and ready to play more cards after this double up :)

Flop: 4c 5h 6c

Turn: 4 (okay table gets excited and im praying please don't pair the board)

River: 2 He catches a runner runner for a boat, unbelievable... he had 5 outs at best and I am sure less even cause I'm sure some of his outs were mucked, I grinded on FTP for this day and now I have to do it all over again for March.

  • Wow that sucks ...

I can see how he got to be chip leader!

Invite him to a cash game later!

    huh?

I always hate flopping a straight and then the turn is a 7 followed by an 8 on the river for a chop. I find flopped straights are not always that great in a cash game as you seem to run into sets and they still will hit their boats 35% of the time.

one day I will get to witness your brilliance at the table...one day....
  • Tough beat Laos......those hurt, especially in a big event.

I'll predict chip leader was gone within 2 hours.

    GL next time
  • That is part of balancing your range. If you open with more hand preflop you will be more susceptable to flopping straights and losing on the river.

But I will take a 60-40 edge any day in a cash game..... :)

I think he was a lot more than 60-40 favorite on the flop
  • Oh I was referring to Pokerjahs post...

yes, he definitely was. But up against a set on the flop, you are 65/35. As BM said, I will take any bet against runner, runner.
