Can't stop thinking about this hand

I played this hand yesterday and I can't decide whether I should've laid it down on the river. The villian is the only player at the table I have any respect for. He's been playing a good laggy game, running at 27/24 (100+ hands).

My reasons for calling were:
- Getting just shy of 3:1
- I had a hard time putting him on any hand with a 4 or 6 unless he had 44 or 66
- QQ+ and maybe AK would 4bet shoved PF
- A king would have raised the flop bet

Given hiw he played the hand, I was mostly worried about the third diamond on the river, but I closed my eyes and called anyway. What do you guys think?

  • I think this is the most important factor you needed to consider:
    - QQ+ and maybe AK would 4bet shoved PF

    Nice read!
  • I think you have to be concerned about the 3rd :d: on the river but you were leading the whole way and then checked the river. That might give him some information (real or perceived).

There are some hands he can beat here that might pay him off. There are also some hands here (like yours) that he doesn't beat that might fold to him if he bets out.

I think it was played fine from both sides and, nh!
