Who is the fish here?

Oh yeah..me.

So...at the Edgewater with the Big Slick crew, and I bust out with a poor call on my part...not even gonna get into that..but whatever..I am ok with it.

I head over to the poker room and get in line for the 1/2 tables, not wanting to get into the 2-4 limit which had open seats..

While waiting, I am watching the 5-5 Omaha table....stacks aren't that big...big stack is 500, smallest about 250..."hmm..." I think to myself..I am watching them play and show down..and wow...I can play with these guys..there are 4 seats open..

Brad Booth and some of the other Big Slick players come into the room..Brad looks around and says to us.."let's play some Omaha"...I am game at this point...chance to sit with Brad and play..why not?

I sit down, Brad puts his jacket on a chair across the table and leaves for a second..as I am buying in for my 400, everyone at the table immediately...(and I didn't know old oriental gentleman could move this fast, I thought it was only in the movies) jump up and change seats..one even taking the seat Brad has his jacket on...lol..

Brad comes back, laughs a bit and says.."ok, I guess I will sit over here"and sits two down from me on the right..."great" I think...

Then he pulls out 1000 and buys chips...well, faster than I could think, every single person at the table drops about another 5 bills each on the table and I am a huge short stack all of a sudden...Brad's buddy joins the table with about 800, and I am really screwed now...I am not putting 1k out on the table with these guys..lol..I will play for 400..sure..but, not 1k..

*cards are flying*

I calmly folded my first two hands...then picked up Kc7cKd7d...not great, but not bad...Brad has a straddle on for 10...*call*...call, call, call, call, call...Raise pot...90 bucks at this point. I can quickly see where this is going..lol..So, as I contemplate on how to hollywood my fold, my name is called to the 1-2nl table...*saved*

so anyway...yeah..need way deeper pockets for that game..lol..still was fun..played 1-2 for 5 hours or so...up a few bucks, blew it later when I came back...Not at all impressed with my play all day long...But, that being said...it was still a good night of cards.

  • If this is limit

Stop being a pussy and call.

Pot Limit? Playing with 400 is ridiculous. Variance in PLOM is ridiculous.

I knew I was going to be forced all in, and wasn't going to go with that hand if I did go. I knew it was not the game for me. Also, I was only 100 shy of the biggest stack at the table...until Brad brought.
  • That's my point...

If you're playing PLOM at 5/5, you're going to want more than 400.. that's only 80 BB, and the SB is an equal one!? You'll be reloading or short-changing yourself a LOT. I take it the table limit was $1000? Play with that.

  • If Brad Booth is at the table, i'm running to the atm to buyin full :)

Like I was saying..just went so I wasn't short stacked. (to the rest of the table until Brad sat down) There was no limit at the table. Once everyone topped up, I got out.

    He cleaned up the table...lol
  • I guess he's back to levels where he can win at.

    Is this pot limit?
Isn't the correct move to make it 270 with 130 behind? This puts the big stacks in an awkward pot comitting sized bet?

// I'm not an expert at PLO
  • ^^ Yep, I do believe that would have been the correct move....pot was 90, he made a raise of 90...so 180..I could have shoved my stack ....and I may have (reraised) with more money behind...(the perils of playing short..lesson learned) ..but, I knew I would be called by several, wasn't THAT happy with KK77, so opted to fold and get out of the game.

Doubt that....guys will snap call 90 trying to see the flop & win a big pot.....but you repot, probably get 1 caller at most, unless you have a table full of shooters......in which case.....reload.

I repot there everytime with your stack, as you only want one villain (or none) against your hand.

I like the sound of this.....trip report please.

Fair enough, but with watching the table for the time prior...I felt I would be called..likely wrong..but so be it. Again, a lesson learned...appreciate the input :)

The best part of the story really was the old Oriental gentleman jumping around like crazy the second Brad put his jacket on a chair..and then one takes Brad's chair..guess you had to see it..lol
