Quad Aces did I play this ok?

My regular home game with friends last night .025/.05 NL

Dealt to me :ac:2d

I limp in as does everyone else.

Flop
:4d:4c:as

I bet $2.50 and get called by two people.

Turn
:ah

I bet $5 and get called by one person.

River

:ad

I am All in and they fold. I really, really, really wanted someone to think I was bluffing on the pot. Should I have made a lower bet?

Could I have sucked out more? Hard to tell not the best poker players in my group.

Thoughts?

  • Am I reading this right? Everyone limps into the pot for 50 cents and then after the flop there is a 25 dollar bet? Sounds more like a bet for a $2/$4 game, not a .25/.50 game
  • Ok yes that does sound odd.

Let me try and explain. We run the game this way. You buy in for $20 and you are issued $200 in chips. I run Paulson Pharaoh chips which have denominations of .25, 1,5,25,100,500,1000. I just like to see more colours in play.

So really the bets of $25 and $50 are in reality $2.5 and $5.

My apologies I should have been more clear.

I edited the first post to be more reflective of the real bets.

    Thanks

  • If I am reading this right you bet $12 into an $18 pot (assuming $20 starting stack). You can't really expect anyone to call any bet without at least a higher PP than a 4. You represented an Ace by taking the lead in the betting.

The bet size is fine. Plus you do have the "I'll call you to keep you honest" factor.
  • I don't it's a good idea to push.....you're only gonna get called by hands that beat you. Like the dreaded 5 of a kind.
  • 2.50$ not 25.00$ lol
