Hard Rock Main Event Update

$2650 buy in

35 players and they are down to 19 and playing one last level tonight to finish day 1.

Gavin Smith, Todd Brunson, Montel Williams all playing some cards.

Kelly posted some photos with Ozzy and David Blaine too

Don't have much info, just read a 2+2 post from the German that Blonde Fish mentioned who won the 888 package.

He said he loved it, even after being railed on a bad beat and would be back again anytime....

Hope to bring you more soon, wondering how Inquirer is doing.....

  • Hey Jon, do you know how the PLO event went?
  • Ummmm..It didn't unfourtunately. Only about 8 players were willing to pony up the 1k and they didn't want to play single table so they played a NLH event instead.

On a brighter note, Dan was the man in these, not only winning the main but winning a few $350's and cashing in a few more. Expect an article and press release on him soon.

Also good to see Dusty cash in the ME, one of our locals. I played my first $550 at his table for the majority of the game and we had some fun hands.

In fact, Calgary (Alberta South) represented well in this Series, claiming most of the Canadian cashs.

Anyone talk to Inquirer? Curious as to what he thought of the events as he won the 888 package.
  • I just got back Wed. night from Vegas. I'll be posting a trip report a few days but thought I'd comment on the tournament. The tournament structure itself was great. Lots of chips and lots of play. Turnout however, was quite disappointing. Only 35/36 players. The players and dealers I talked to blamed it on lack of advertising to be the main problem. Others mention that August is a slow month and a lot of tournaments going on elsewhere (ex. Legends of poker in LA).

I played the $360 the next day and only 8 players registered including myself. I thought it was a complete waste of time with so few participants. As great as the structure was, I don't see myself playing in one of these again if the turnout remains the same (unless of course I win a free trip again :)).
  • Here are the missing results. This one was fun. Lessons learned will be applied and hopefully this series will grow and flourish. Thanks everyone for the support!
