FullTilt or PokerStars?

I was reading a thread on CardPlayer.com about which site is better FullTilt or PokerStars.

Now from what I read, the consensus on this forum is that PokerStars is the place to play. However, reading the thread on CardPlayer.com it appears that the consensus is for FullTilt.

Just curious as to what people on this forum think about FullTilt?

If you care to read the thread, here it is.......

  • Full Tilt is an upandcoming site that will eventually become as good as PS and possibly better. They offer a unique GUI that is fun to play with, and the chance to have you own personal Av. They also give you to test you poker skills against Pros @ Low Limits llike .05/.10 NL. I think they are also the only site that offer a Razz game, which has been interesting to try. But as of currently, the site has a lot of tight players, which will not maximize profit, but offers a nice bonus. They also have one very unique item that you can purchase with the points you receive for the play @ your table. A Full Tilt Jersey (Personalize, with you name on the back if you'd like). So you've seen Ivey where it, no you can where it!
  • My username is "Chris" at FT, but I'm almost never there. The interface is ugly, and they don't offer anything that other sites don't already have. Comparing FT to PS is rediculous. PS blows them away.
  • I hate Full Tilt and will never play there again.

I thought they had a great promo to win an entry to the Foxwoods WPT final. And, I figure the 100% bonus was a great way to try the site.

I had some good ealry success, winning an entry to their weekly tournament for the Foxwoods entry. I'm starting to like the site. This was up until I was sitting at a 1 on 1 table with a pro. The problem was that I didn't have the Pictures/Avatars on -- I turn off all pictures as I find them distracting. Well, I have no way of know he's a pro when the avatars are turned off. I lose about 10BB and it's clear I need a bigger bankroll to play this guy with an ultra-aggressive style, so I leave the table.

When I'm in the lobby I notice his name is highlighted in red. So, I begin to wonder if he's a pro. I go back to the table and ask him. He says yes he's a pro. I was really upset and let him know that I have no way of knowing he's a pro because I have my avatars turned off.

Well he starts mocking me. After that I took my money out and decided never to play there again. Who wants to play at a site where the "props" have unlimited access to funds to play you (they say that it's their money, but I believe their accounts are funded), take your money from the table (they say they donate it to charity, but you can't find that anywhere on their website, or software) and from the rake and then mock you.

I'd rather go to solid site, where the pros play with their own money. Pokerstars is where you'll find me.

  • Hmmm, thats very interesting. I think I would be a little upset if I was being bombarded by a pro and didn't know it at the time. Although, that could have been avoided somehow, wouldn't you agree?? BTW What limit were you playing at as I would like to avoid this same situation if I sign up.

Also, what about the bonus, is it true they give you 100% match? How many raked hands do you have to play?

I mean besides your unfortunate incident, I wouldn't mind joining just for the juicy sign up bonus.

I generally find your posts pretty insightful. Any other opinions Magi?

If anyone else has had an experience on FullTilt, please don't hesitate to post!
  • do a title search for full tilt. you will see some interesting stuff discussed awhile back. I make my opinion pretty clear lol

I wasn't upset at being bombarded by a pro. I was, and still am really, really pissed off that the pro (who's part owner) would mock me, and berate me at the table. Just imagine if Lee Jones sat down and mocked the play of someone at Pokerstars. I've played pros -- won and lost. Scott Fishman (beat him on a final table), Layne Flack (won my WSOP entry without giving him my chips), Eric Seidel (I got tossed around by him at WCOOP), Mark Sief (pretty much stayed away from him) are a few. , so I'm not all that hung up about being beat. I'm really, really, pissed off the way I was treated by one of the owners of the site. I was playing 5/10. Considering that I've voiced my opinion on RGP, with friends which play allot, and now here, I think it was pretty dumb of that pro to be such a dick with me at the table. Seriously, all it would have taken was "Sorry that you weren't able to see that I was a pro....It's new software and we're looking to make it better....I'll bring it up when we talk about new features and do my best to correct that problem."

Also, what about the bonus, is it true they give you 100% match? How many raked hands do you have to play?

I play allot, I mean allot. It would have taken me three months of playing to earn the $600 max. The opportunity cost is way to high to clear this bonus. There are too many tight games and decent players trying to earn the bonus. With the tight play and the better than average players, my win rate is cut in half. That's too much to give up to earn the bonus.

I mean besides your unfortunate incident, I wouldn't mind joining just for the juicy sign up bonus.

I HATE that site. Wait, I think I already expressed that opinion. Great marketing concept -- come to our site, test your skills against our pros who will take your money. Oh, by the way they also make money from the rake because they are owners. Oh, and by the way, they have absolutely no customer relation skills, so if you don't bow down to them and how great they are, they will treat you like dirt.
  • must a been that perry friedman guy? he always posts lame shill stuff on rgp trying to defend the poorness of his site. I had a tilt with him on rgp about m y full tilt experience. His posts are so dumb.... like if the site was good he wouldnt have to post those lame excuses and get into flame wars with rgp'ers one would think lol.

On a side note, after they couldnt send my money to netteller, after 3 weeks of waiting, i just told them to put the money on to the site again. I played no limit with all of it. had AA lost all in to 99 on one of my first hands or so. very next hand i get JJ, of course go all in preflop, and lose to the same guy with 99 again. So I tried to cash out and never actually got it out. Made me sick, although im not gonna suggest conspiracy, I think it was a sign from god. Wow what a ramble i just did.

    sorry :diamond:

  • Not only is that Friedman guy trolling RGP, they've also enlisted Irish Mike. I saw him at the tables and asked if it was the same Irish Mike as the RGP one. No answer. I did get flamed by him when I posted, and then several others. And, it was weird lame ass flames which had nothing to do with my beef. Typical.

Fortunately, I had no problems cashing out! I think I had my money in Neteller within 24 hours. I haven't been back since. I wish them luck, as they'll need it!
