The drums and guitars are compatible with each other are they not?

If I have Rock Band, is there a point to getting Rock Band 2 with all the newer hardware?

    No it doesn't. That is essentially the same link as I posted above. What I am asking is if there is any difference in technology, added features etc, that I should buy the complete Rock Band II set if I already own the Rock Band I equipment.

    AFAIK there is no appreciable difference. I think the RB2 drum pedal might be a bit sturdier but that's about it. Your RB1 equipment should do just fine...it's all I have as well (plus some Guitar Hero guitars)
