Yup and free passes. You have to qualify with 3hrs (cough cough) of playing time. If you got a pass last year you should have received your letter in the mail already for the new pass. Enjoy the 1hr line. I did that tonight. I suggest people go as quickly as possible as they tend to run out of them before the 2 week period is up (before the actual CNE opens) then they give you day/weekly passes and ask you to come renew them.
I was going to sit in the 5/10 or 10/20 Limit game but after waiting forever to get my pass I decided to head back home. Although I did get to see a bunch of the local Toronto club players and our friendly neighborhood Blondfish doing his civic duty running the poker room, with great efficiency I may add. Fallsview take note
Ok I don't get why you didn't put your name on the list and then get in line for the parking passes. Blondefish is really running the room?
I figured if I am in line and I get called to sit at the table I can't give up my spot in line to go sit and then come back to the line. Choose one or the other I guess.
Here is my deduction of the 10/20 game last night:
3bet preflop equal big hand A10-AK, or big PP
re-raise on flop = set
re-raise on turn most likely 2 pair
re-raise on river = i got there with my draw
If you can keep that in mind and then adapt to each player's tendancies you will fine. It's a great game. I like being hyper aggro with my draws and I will re-raise the flop and turn with a flush or straight draw, it costs me a lot if i miss, but when I hit I get paid

I'm sure someone will correct me, but I see this being hugely +ev with nut draws against many players. You put in 1 bet (big or small) and if you get 3 callers on average, you win 3 bets if you hit, if you miss lose 1.
15 out draws would be automatic to do this on, flush and OESD may require more players.

Oh I am not disputing that at all, you are right on the money,
But most pots after the flop/turn are no longer multiway. And you are right you need to hit to make it profitable, but once again how many times have we had straight flush draws miss everything....or pair with flush draw on the flop only to get out drawn.
I guess i dont have 8 hours to recoup 80-200 bucks of pounding draws only to miss them....and then when you flop hands you aren't getting enough equity from them because your preflop raise is 20-40 instead of 70-100 in NL games...so hand selection is the key.
Hmm...played there once last year. Lost $200-300 playing way too loose somehow thinking I have odds to call anything at any point. Thinking if I should go again this year as it's relatively close.
I hope I'm not asking another question that has been asked to death...any good reads or advice transitioning from NL to L?

Although not written specifically for transitioning from NL to limit....
I highly recommend you read, "Small Stake Hold'em" by Ed Miller.... It's written for loose games where players call too often and play badly postflop...
Acid Joe and I will be there shortly after the Jays game is over Sat. Hobbes was coming too but he sucks. Looking for someone else who will be there to put our names on the list. Send me a pm and maybe we can hook up.

Thanks, I will check that out if I get the chance.
On a side note, I think I played with him a few years back at a 1-3 NL table at Caesar's Palace. Some people at the table recognized him as a poker author but I didn't know he was such a popular author when I met him. Maybe it's because he specializes in limit or maybe cause I sucked and couldn't recognize the fish from the sharks but I thought he wasn't a very good player at the time...
CNE trip report. Free parking until CNE opens. Play 3 hours and get a VIP pass good for free entry and free parking while CNE is open. As soon as you sit down, ask a suit to fill in your application so the clock on your 3 hours starts ASAP.
Acid Joe and I got there just before 5 pm. It was a one hour wait for 10/20 and 2 hours for 5/10. They are spreading 10 tables of 5/10 and 12 of 10/20. Prices for food and drink are insane so bring your own. You can take in any beverage as long as it is sealed. Dealers ranged from mediocre to good. Didn't see any great dealers. The tables are new and nice. Cards are Gemaco which are a bit stiff for me but they were new. The chips are fairly new but the 5s are getting dirty and sticky already but not too horrible.
Play ranged from loose passive to too tight. Not a lot of raising, though Acid Joe was to my left and taking a lot of liberties with the tight play. Saw maybe four or five walks over 3 hours and took down the blinds twice myself with a late position raise. Otherwise cbetting heads up after a check would usually eventually take down a pot. Had one scary hand where I had to fire the third bullet on the river before finally getting a fold. After finally giving it up, the dude asked me if I had the K. Well, "yes" because obv you didn't. Other than rivering a $250+ pot for two pair against a fairly looseish player with over $1k in front of him who actually had the best hand for once until the river, I mostly just picked my spots for a $270 profit over 3 hours. Joe had all the big pots and big hands and crying river calls. He booked $293. But I also got the feeling our table wasn't the greatest in general as a lot of obv regulars would sit down for a few orbits and then ask for a table change. We did have a typically any A caller on our right which was great. He knew a weak A wasn't much good so he would never bet when best but never seemed capable of folding it either when behind. He cracked my Kings once with A5 but I didn't need to make any decisions after the flop because he didn't bet his top pr so I only lost 3 small bets and another time he let AcidJoe catch up with a rivered boat by playing his A the same way and of course paid off Joe's river bet.
So all in all I'm happy I went and scored the VIP pass so I can take the kiddies for free once the Ex opens but unlikely I will travel down again just to play poker when BCC is 20 min out my back door.
Wish I had seen your post the night before Moose. I was there from 2-8 on the 5/10 tables.
On the 5/10 there is a lot more loose play than it sounds like you saw on the 10/20. Within about 20 hands I was up 350 with people calling down the idiot end of straights or betting middle pair like it was the nuts.
I then went card dead to the extreme. If it weren't for the fact I got involved with some hands I had no business playing I wouldn't have seen a flop for 2 hours. slowly dwindled down to just $65 in hand and was about to call it quits when I was dealt pocket 10's in SB. UTG calls, middle position raises, cut off raises, button folds, I cap, BB folds UTG folds (later I find this is bad for me).
Couple of early middle are in but I can't remember them now.
Flop comes 6, 10, small something....
I bet out, original raisers raise, I cap.
Turn - 8
I bet original raiser raises, cut off raises, and at some point is all in. I'm all in but for $5. there are only 3 of us left
River - Q ......shit.
Push in my final $5. cut off calls of course as there is so much in the pot and turns JJ
Original raiser shows tosses down KK like its a GOD hand and I throw in my SET to take it down. Wasn't trying to slow roll....just wanted to make sure no one caught the queen.
UTG had pocket 8's and said if I hadn't capped he would have called the $15 preflop........I might have then strung him out on that turn as well.....
So great almost final hand to cap off hours of complete crap. I swear if they deal me 9/4o again I'm going to ask for a rule change to make that the unbeatable hand.
I'm pissed that I tossed away so many chips during the slow period but I'm glad I held on to enough to take down that pot.
Players were mixed. A couple with good TAG/LAG skills but some lucky newbies calling down any two cards. Table had a lot of 6/7 player limped pots and didn't take kindly to my raises early in the session where I was winning.
Good learning experience for my first non-home cash game I guess. Should have changed tables at one point when the mix changed but live and learn. Now to get to the casinos so I can be properly fleeced.
Live downtown so I might be there a couple of nights each week trying to gain some more experience.

It's ok, its only limit
how tough will the 10/20 game be then? on average
Online 5 cents/10 cents?
Yup...pretty much

I usually play 5/5 NL at fallsview. I really dont have much experience with limit. But have some books at home to read.
What do you guys suggest I play at CNE...no 1/2 please cant stand that game.
Take your pick.
Correct answer was - Sorry I have Jays tickets that day.
