Poker heart ^^'

The bet sizing, the eagerness. I just couldn't believe, he was completely unknown to me but I just didn't feel it. Is this a retarded play? No HUD or real reads to be had, it's a standard 20$ tournament with 360 people.

  • Don't like your play tbh, you're folding all worse hands and getting called by most hands that have you beat...and your raise basically commits you to the pot if he shoves amirite....
  • Either you raise like you did, or fold......you do not call in this situation. Turns out like your feeling and read was correct, you had no fear and raised him which in turn won a decent size pot. But I also agree with Finger...you are committing a heck of a lot of chips where the majority of people who raise preflop typically has A something....but ultimately you went with your gut
  • Either you raise like you did, or fold......you do not call in this situation.

this is DEFINITELY not a raise or fold spot. the board is so dry...your either way ahead or way behind. if you feel your behind, just muck. if you feel your ahead, you should really just call and let the guy bluff off the rest of his chips to you. i think raising is the worst possible option in this spot.
  • I also do not see the value in this raise. It was too much, committing you to the pot. In position I like a call to see what he does on the next street. As Kai says, you are either way ahead or behind. No real draws so why the rush (and committment)?
  • Just got back from Amsterdam, couldn't reply earlier. What you guys are saying is definitely true when I look back. Not only am I commiting myself but those are actually my last chips going in the middle, don't know why the HH doesn't show this though.

When I made this play I was really going out of my normal style of playing, I fold this spot every time normally (I don't think I'm nearly good enough to call a bluff from an unknown player normally). I think of it as a step in the right direction and hopefully I'll keep improving. Just felt really nice to see some progress with a spot I couldn't handle before =)
