Slow Rolled in Macau

So I was playing 10 20 NL in Macau at the pokerstars room at the Grand Lisboa Casino (with exchange this is roughly 1-2 NL here). I had been given an hour of playing time by my wife and was nearing "time's up". I had about 600 in chips left. An early position guy raised (he had been very active) it was folded around to me in LP and I look down at KJd. I decide what the hell I either double up or go home down one buy in so I push. Folded back to raiser who debates for a long time before finally calling. In Macau all ins don't show their hands to the river so I kind of figured he had AK or AQ based on his deliberations. Flop comes J high rainbow with one diamond. Turn is a low diamond so now I have the draw as well. River is another blank. I flip over top pair. He hesitates, then shows a king and makes like he is going to muck. Great I figure AK and then all of a sudden he reveals a second king to scoop the pot. I was pissed! Picking on the poor white foreigner like that! The good news(or maybe bad news!) is my wife discovered roulette with one of her friends and I was able to play for another hour and won back almost half of my first session loss at a different table.

  • Yeah we got there around 11 pm on a Friday night and there was a tourney wrapping up and 5 tables of 10-20 NL and 1 table of 20-40 NL going. It was pretty steady until around 2:30 am when we took off.
  • Slow rolling is normal in Macau
  • I played for over 2 hours at different tables and only saw it once!
  • How far is Grand Lisboa from Galaxy StarWorld Casino (where APT Macau is being held next month), and is it worth a visit for poker? Was there any tournament or SNG running?

  • 5 min walk from Starworld. Go to the Wynn for cash games, which is right beside starworld
