they pay cash if you win?

if you win money in a wpt or wsop tournament
do they pay you in cash or cheque?

i can't see them paying anyone $1 million dollar in cash and walk out the casino--- is that dangerous for the winner?

  • Direct Deposit into your bank account I assume.

Didn't SirWatts get it done that way? I think it depends on the tournament rules itself. The one that Dave Scharf won a couple of years ago, he took $100G home with him in his suitcase in cash.
  • When all_aces finished 7th (for 77K)a few years ago in the Limit event I believe he was paid in casino chips.
  • My friend's dad won the NAPC at fallsview last year - cheque I believe.
I think you have the option to take some cash though.
  • I won at ching hill last week and was paid in crisp twinnies.

I was also very uncomfortable walking back to my car.

As you should be...not because of the neighbourhood, but BEWARE THE HOST YOU BUSTED to get first!!!

LOL... for the EPT tournaments I think Glen told me Pokerstars paid to player account.

For a reasonable fee, security can be provided. Conversely, for a larger fee, security can look the other way . . .
  • LOL

Awesome. Also, what's the address of this place so I can avoid it/take my brother there when he comes for his next visit?

    Aww shucks . . .

And Cerb? Just send AJ a PM. We'd "love" to see you on the Hill . . .
  • At wsop you get a choice of cash, cheque, or wire.
  • At most events, you can choose a combination of casino chips, cash, cheque. wire transfer, etc. For example at one of my cashes, I asked for a receipt of the total amount, some cash, some chips to give as tips and the rest in a cheque. After one of my horses cashed at the WSOP Main Event and I walked him through the *&^%$#@! 30% tax withholding and other procedures, he chose ALL cash. I think he wanted to spread it all on his bed and sleep on it!

You can request casino security to escort you with your winnings.

Yes, he smartly chose a cheque, as walking around with $1,224,852 in bills along with the trophy and two bracelets would have been inconvenient!

why would you avoid it? not like you would win any money :-).

You would be surprised at who can win on The Hill...just ask Milo.

Remember when he casually handed those chips to a fan so he could sign an autograph for her? CLASSIC 'WHOOPS'

    <huge fucking grin>
  • Venetian Deepstack paid me in chips (the oversize ones were pretty cool) and Caesars paid everyone in cash when we chopped, over 70K on a poker table in the middle of a tournament room roped off as we split the money.
  • We had a guy robbed for 110k here, the ring games see sick cash during events.

What would chose to rob, a lonely poker player at 2 am or a bank. Choose alternate means if available I say, he wasn't the first.
