Copags..dent in card?

Ok, so I run about 10 decks of these cards, and 3 of them have this showing up in them...What could be causing these "dents" in the cards? No shuffler is used..normal handling doesn't make sense...they are kept in cases when not in use...

My only thought is a chip edge hitting the card when the card is on a soft surface???

the card is blurry, but you can see what players can see in the correct lighting/seating...

  • Could be caused by almost anything...chip landing it harshly, somebody not careful with their fingers, or even someone purposefully doing it, but until you see proof of this, don't mention it.

I believe Copaq will switch it for you regardless.
  • they will? sweet..I have 3 decks that are sitting useless because of it...same issue on all of them. the card is a 6c..lol..I can't imagine it being intentional. Though, one of the others is the Ad. Forget the third.

Now that I am thinking on it...what about a metal chip protector landing on it edgewise if tossed up and landing on the cards?

Absolutely...again, it can be almost anything. Are all three marked in the same location?
  • If the damage is deemed to be intentional (ie NOT a production flaw), you may have trouble getting a replacement. However, Copag has very good customer service, so you may end up getting it done just to keep your good will. Damage looks intentional to me, though. Probably someone being careless with their card topper.

Don't name any names, but point out the damage, and ask your players to be more careful.
  • The damage is in abouts the same area...ie: center of the cards. I hate to say it..but I think it might be me doing it...DOH!! I toss my topper onto my cards now and then...I will pay more attention to everyone next game..but, yeah..I think I am the idiot..lol

I will contact copag and see what they have to say..
  • I have dealt with Copag in regards to getting a card replaced and they were excellent.
I dealt with a woman named Natalie. All they asked me to do was send in the damaged card and the guarantee card.
  • It is from some heavy handed oaf pressing into the cards with their nail in order to pop up the edge to peek underneath. My last tourney I had 2 setups of cards ruined by a similar jerkoff.
  • Moose is on the money!!!
I had a guys poker night a couple of months ago, and noticed a similar dent occuring on certain cards AS we were playing. Started watching the others...no one was being stupid with their chips, but I FINALLY spotted the moron. This guy had a ring on his middle finger that, i found out, he turned the diamond INWARD towards his palm. Of course he would then put his hand palm side down onto the cards, and then pop up the corners with his other hand. When I figured it out I went ballistic as my Kem's are $20/deck. So not only did he pull out a $40 on the spot (we were alternating decks), the rest of the table guilted him into buying $80 worth of pizza for the night!!! He's now been given EXPLICIT instructions NOT to wear his ring to poker nights, as this flipping the ring around on his finger is an actual habit he has even when he's NOT playing poker.

really? hmm..well...I don't have long enough fingernails..lol..gone since I started rock climbing..

i will have to pay attention this wednesday and friday..
  • Just take the cards that are wrecked and see if the crease matches up exactly. No way to crease two thicknesses of cards just by throwing a card protector on it. They also might be doing it by pressing a chip into the surface of the cards instead of their nail. i would just start the day by giving a lecture on the cost of cards and demonstrating that you can bend the cards nearly double without wrecking them but you can not crease them.
  • Dennis, did you ever end up getting replacements?
  • Actually...I never ended up sending them in...got enough of them that I just used the decks as "spare card" decks...replaced them back and forth between the decks to remove all the dented cards...I have about 20-25 decks in action every week so..replacement cards are handy on that rare occasion they are needed. It is just handy that all the copags I have bought are the same color scheme...

I forgot to look when this was originally posted..but you are wrong. Going ballistic on someone that made an honest mistake, and paid for the decks is douche-y, I hope you and the table give him his pizza money back, or he wins it off of you. And I maintain that there is a special section of hell for life-nits.
