GG Arturo Gatti

Just heard on The Score that Arturo "Thunder" Gatti was found dead in his hotel room, apparently suffering from blunt force trauma. I still remember, as much as I wasn't a boxing fan, always stopping to watch the show if I found he was fighting. Man, he was only 37.

  • The first time I saw him fight was vs Gabe Ruelas in 97. With his eyes swollen shut he comes from behind with a KO from nowhere. I never missed another one of his fights and I own his entire catalog on DVD as well as several autographed photos.

The guy was everything pure about sport and competition. He was polite and courteous in interviews and Gracious as winner or loser. He gave everything he had to give every time he stepped in the ring.

His win over Joey Gamache was the sickest KO I have ever seen and who hasn't heard of his fights with Mickey Ward.

This news really makes me sad.

    RIP "Thunder" Gatti.
  • +1 Caddie. Say whatever else you want, but NOBODY ever asked for their $$$ back after a Gatti fight. No-fucking-body . . .

    RIP Thunder.
  • Toronto Star reported that he died from suffocation from a purse strap.

    RIP
  • Defenitly my favourite Boxer of all time.
  • RIP, Gatti made up for his lack of skill with his heart.
