Visa to PokerStars

Was just wondering has anyone ever had any problem depositing directly to Pokerstars with there Visa. I have a TD Visa and want to deposit there, but I am not sure wether it is going to let me.

If it doesnt let me, any ideas on how too fix this problem? I have heard that you can phone Visa or any other credit card company and they can make it so you can deposit there from now on... basically instatnly. If I could get a response on all this it would be greatly appreciated.

  • My TD VISA works there no problem.
  • My Royal bank Visa would not work there as it said that my bank did not allow those type of transactions. However my CIBC visa works there no problem. I think that some banks have limitations as to what type of transactions they will allow on their clients cards.
  • Okay, so Thief you say that your TD (toronto dominion bank) Visa works there? Great!!!

If it happens that mine doest work for some reason, can I phone the card company and get them to lift the limitations and restrictions... I have heard about someone doing this somewhere...

Goms, had you contacted the Royal. I got the same message when I tried to use my RB Visa. This would be my preferred way of depositing funds. I think I will contact them to find out what's up.
  • hmmmmmmm maybe i should get myself a cibc visa :)
  • my td visa works no problem as well
  • AWESOME! I am glad too hear that the TD Visa works no problem on that site, going to make my first deposit there on the weekend. WOW, kinda excited now! LOL! Ive never played on Pokerstars before, but it seems pretty good!

So strange. CIBC VISA security forces me to call them when i try to depost at Stars. Scotia VISA never declines.
I'd expect different institutions to have different policies. I wouldn't expect the same bank to have different policies. I swear I pay my bills.

I had this happen a few times -- actually on every card I get. I use CIBC visa and TD Visa. It was really strange the first time it happened. I go to make the deposit at Paradise. It gets rejected. Do it again. Rejected. Five minutes later as I'm checking balances etc., the phone rings. It's TD Visa calling to verify if I actually want to make the transaction. I say yes, and this is simply awesome -- I feel a little more at ease, that the banks are putting anti-fraud mechanisms in place. Once you've indicated it's ok to do business with them, you normally don't have to do it again. CIBC doesn't call, you'll need to call them.

CIBC visa stopped allowing transactions on my gold card once because I had made back to back gasoline purchases within five minutes. It's a long story, but it involves a UHaul (will never rent from those bastards again) and me not filling the tank completely the first time. It was a pain in the ass because I didn't know it at the time, but again it's nice to know there's something being done to prevent fraud.

so is your VS gold still active
  • I deposited last night just before the tourney. Got the bonus too!

You have to be sure the name and address on the poker account EXACTLY matches the info for the card.

Yep, just took a phone call from me to say the transactions were valid. I did have to verify my identity -- more than just the standard personal information. So, it was a good thing. Just thinking about UHaul makes me want to beat the crap out of them. Wait, hmmm...., if I could only get the owners into a friendly poker game. Anyone know if UHaul is a private or public company?

    Cheers

  • Its not visa that has the problem with online gaming its the royal bank that blocks the transaction, you cant even deposit to your neteller acount with a royal bank visa. I recommened opening up a neteller instacash account fast deposits and fast cash outs.

Through instaCASH, you can transfer money from your checking account to your NETELLER Account
does it have to be a checking acct?

    which bank is best?
  • i'm thinkin' of opening up a INGdirect account :)
  • it dosnt have to be a chequeing acount but its easier, because a cheque has all you account, and transit codes on it. As long as you have that information you can use any account
