Do Canadians consider CPT a "big dog" or just a recreational League?
I started talking about Heads Up Entertainment, the company that owns the Canadian Poker Tour in the buy and sell section and it turned into what I thought was an intresting conversation.
So as Canadian players, what do you think?
Will the partnership with World Poker Showdown help CPT establish an international image?
Do you play CPT events and do you find value and a good time in them?
Here in Calgary, we have a larger prize pool CPT event on a regular basis, and we are almost always playing for seats in nightly freezouts, so I think of it as "the game" to take a shot at.
Regina sells out the events regularly and the casino makes a huge deal of their Classic events.
Edmonton an Red Deer also host some big turn outs. I haven't played in BC yet, no idea how big they get there.
In the east? Is CPT a presence?
Throw them thoughts in here?

There's a Canadian Poker Tour?! Never hear much about it in Ontario. Of course the OLG is pretty biased against big poker tournaments.
Next you'll claim there's a Canadian Football League. (Also something we rarely hear about in Ontario )
Having said all this, the CPT's cash spends just as well as my own, so good luck to them.
OLG...*shakes fist*
What needs to happen is that casinos in Rama and Niagara Falls be pressured to register their future tournaments with the CPT, so that there will be more big tournaments available. With no tournaments bigger than 110 players in Ontario, most of the CPT Top 50 are from the west and there are only a couple of players in Ontario who have a good shot at winning the $5,000 poker trip package.
You answered the questions I just asked them about the east, the events that people know are selling out and they are working on bigger and better.
Really, Kelly only aquired the CPT just over a year ago. Under the old regieme, 70 events where held nationwide.
This year we see 350 CPT sanctioned events, with "premium events" countinuing to be added.
Hope to hear more thoughts in this thread, thanks to those posting.
Redhot Poker Tour is a clear example of how the East help something get big fast.
