Wsop entry help

I heard that it has to be cashiers cheques for entry. I was planning on taking travellers cheques. Is there a difference? Can I use travllers cheques?

  • According to the WSOP Site:
"Accepted forms of payment include cash, cashiers checks, and Rio casino chips."

But, the casino itself will probably take travellers cheques which you could convert to cash or casino chips and then use those to pay for your entry (but I would suggest calling ahead to confirm).
  • Travellers cheques? What is this 1982???
  • lol.....ya im a little old school
  • I can confirm that the cashiers cage takes travelers cheques... lol.. I'm old school as well...
  • I tried the wiring route a good two weeks before the deadline for $1500USD. Cost an extra $30 on this end. Then they sent back and said they were $10 short because of costs from the bank on their end. I then wired another $40 (in case there were more hidden fees). They confirmed my spot 5 days before the event started.

Then went to cage to get my change back and teller did not know anything. It took 6 trips to cage waiting for supervisor to show up. I finally got my $26 back. (not worth the hassle)

Next time, I'll pay cash at the cage like everybody else. I just might do it a few days early to be safe.
  • I always take travellers cheques. I got home yesterday. You can cash them at any casino cage anywhere in the city. What I have learned is that I will NEVER preregister unless I'm going a few days early. Continental cancelled my flight and only told me about it after I got to the airport. The next flight left the morning I was supposed to play. I was supposed to be in Vegas at 10am on Friday but ended up rerouting through Newark and sitting on standby for 3 planes. I got to Vegas at 9:30pm at night, ran to the RIO and bought my seat with only 100 seats left. If I preregistered, there was the chance I wouldn't have made it.
