CPT @ Casino Rama Report

well, my first big tourny is complete and .... well, read and find out...

122players - buy in was 290 for 1000 chips- first three rounds are 1/2 hour with unlimited rebuys ($100=500chips) and an add on at the end on the third round ($150=1000chips)

the first two rounds were limit and i didnt get many cards to play with - nothing to say really except that Jason Sagle (23rd at the 2004WSOP) was at my table and raising any and everything - he rebought twice in the limit round
the third round was no limit and Jason kept playing crazy, but people at my table followed right beind him (they later annouced my table had the most rebuys)

blinds are 50/100 - i have 700 in chips
finally i get dealt a hand - JJ in LMP
i really didnt want to rebuy - i just wanted to take the add-on, and maybe that was my problem -so i just limp
BB raises to 200 and i call along with one other limper i had position on
flop is A-Q-8
BB goes all in - other player folds, as do i - BB shows a Q

i hesitantly rebuy and my stack grows to its original 1000
same level, 2 hands later i get dealt 77 in MP
UTG raises to 200, i call and unfortunatley everyone else bows out
flop comes 7-4-4
i cringe
MP looks at me and says : "all-in" he had about 4000chips, which more than covered me
i call and reveal my full house - he curses and i take down the pot

blinds come around and i finish the rebuy period at 2000 and take the 1000 add-on

level 5 with blinds at 200/400 -about 4000 in chips
i get AQo in the SB, its folded to me and raise to 1400 and BB calls
flop is j-rag-rag
i bluff at the pot with $1000 - as i place the bet in the pot, my phone (which is in my front jean pocket) starts to vibrate and im startled
BB looks at me oddly and then folds - i guess it threw him off ;)

Level 7 - blinds are 600/1200 and i only have about 5500 in chips
im in the BB
the same guy who i flopped the full house against raises to 2400
SB raises all-in with about 4500 in chips
i look down and see my twoo favourite cards - A-A!
i raise all in
first guy calls and shows A-K
SB shows 88
they get no help and im to about 15k in chips which i pad to close to 17k before the break (the average is approximately 9k with 35 left)

finally i get moved to the main table with about 26guys left
the tell us when it get down to 22 they will move us all to the ballroom where we will get a dinner break and a buffet spread!

level 9 - blinds 1000/2000 - stack is around 20k
3rd or fourth hand, and now Jason Sagle is directly on my right
MP raises to 5k (he has a 12k stack)
LP raises all-in with about 7k
im in bb and look down to..... whatdaya know!? A-A!
i raise all in
MP thinks forever and eventually calls
MP turns over 66
LP has AKs

this pot will push me to chips leader or pretty darn close to it

flop

4-4-6 - the gallery goes nuts

MP flops the boat and i get no help - down to about 8k - d'oh

i dont play another hand until they move us to the ballroom
i chat with a bunch of player over dinner - with 22 left im in 16th chips position

10 places paid - i need help bad

i get NONE

best hand i got was a-8 which i didnt go all in on after a 5k raise and a call....
flop came a-something-8 - all hearts - one guy bet and the other folded so i dunno if i had the hand, but whatever

eventually the blind came around and put me all in (2400BB, i had 2200 or something) and i get dealt 93o
Jason Sagle UTG raises 5k and everyone folds (sb is dead this round)
were heads up and he turns over 88
flop is q-k-q
turn is 4
river is a k

my 9 plays - lol - and i double up

im still very short stacked however and am still ctaching no cards - i fold my SB and agian the BB catchs up to me
blinds are 1400/2800 and i have almost 5k
there are 12 players left and SB is short stacked too (not as much as me)
10 people get paid, idunno if i mentioned that

EP raises to like 10k - this would put SB all in - he thinks for a while and folds
i look down at 5-8suited
the blinds were about to raise and the SB would eat me up next hand so i call

he turns over a-10s
live cards! alright!
flop is j-7-6 (opend ended!!!!!)
turn is a 2
delaer stalls, reachs for a card and it flips out of his hand
A FIVE!!!!!
I WIN!!!!
right? no.
dealer declares "oh sorry that was the burn card"
(it did come out accidentally, it not like he placed it on the baord)
the river is a Q i think and i am out in 12th, with no money :banghead:

notes: Jason Sagle finsihed 3rd and the guy who burned me when i had aces came 2nd

overall i think i played really great and felt i deserved to hit the money - but what can you do
i had fun and met some good people, but it sure does burn

alright, thanks for reading that! gimme some feedback

  • Sounds like you played very well. I'm sure the outcome would have been much more profitable if not for that one hand. I don't think that MP with 66 made a great play either, raising almost half of his stack with 66 and then calling the remaining 7K with two players all in. Well, maybe his call was ok but his original bet was a bit excessive IMO. Anyway, nice turnout main man, you'll get em next time.

    stp
  • wanna hear a worse call he made?

heads up in the final 2 he raises preflop about 20k (blinds are 3 and 6k and he has about 600k to the other players 300k)

short stack comes over the top all in and he calls with no hesitation

short stack shows AKs and he shows.......... Q8s
turned the tide pretty quick.... eventually he went all in again and ran into kings which brought his downfall...
