Quick Fallsview TR before WSOP
*******CLIFF NOTES ON BOTTOM**********
So I figure I should give this TR just before I head out to the WSOP. I haven't been to FV in about 4-5 months now as I really detest how they run the room, not too mention there are so many more games I can play in within quick drives around the city so I tend to just hang out here. (not too mention online games, etc)
Anyways yesterday I decided I would stop in for a quick session before I headed out to vegas just to practice my reads in with players I probably won't recognize or have played with before with varying levels of skill (which is different from my normal close my eyes and pray games where you gamble 100% and hope your skill out does the next players luck)
Called in at around 11:15am and got to FV at around 1pm and to my surprise the list was full of call ins and they had about 6 tables open (full) and 3 dealers sitting in empty tables going through the rotation.
The games they had were:
2x2/5 NL
3x5/5 NL
1x5/10 NL
As luck has it as soon as I checked in they opened a brand new table. I decided to slum it as I didn't feel like putting in a long session so I just sat at the 2/5 game when they opened it. Like always FV doesn't disappoint in the fish column.
Seat 1 - old man
Seat 2 - brand new to casino never played a cash game, asked the dealer to help him out with betting
Seat 3 - old man
Seat 4 - FV reg
Seat 5 - FV reg (I know these two were regs cause everyone kept coming up to talk to them and they knew each other)
Seat 6 - me
Seat 7 - old man
Seat 8 - clueless young guy
Seat 9 - Young guy moved from another table to play had about 600 so I pegged him as an ok player
Seat 10 - old man
And shuffle up and deal...we are off....
First hand I pick up 99 in LP everyone limps for 5 bucks, I make it 50 to go, get starred at by everyone and sure enough people muck their cards and i scoop 30 bucks
Comments start as "oh you must have AA or KK".....lol
Mental note, already love the fact that no one understands how to isolate people and no one realized the amount of the pot already preflop.....ok officially the whole table is now one giant fish tank.
4th hand in there is a raise to 15 bucks and 4 callers.....I muck my Q7c, flop comes AdQsKs original better leads out 30 into the pot (seat 3) and young clueless kid now min raises to 60...it is folded around to the original lead out and he min raises again to 120…WTF….anyways I am now sitting laughing because I think both of them are chopping and each is afraid to push each other out of the hand. Turn comes Q. Now the original better checks and the young kid leads out 50 (totally weird bet considering there is almost 300 in the pot…but hey what do I know), now he gets check-raised to 100 (another min bet)….at this point I had to stand up out of my seat because now the dealer was all confused. Essentially both these players were all in through min raising each other. River is a brick 4. Seat 3 goes all in for his last bit of money and the young kid calls and flips over AA for AAAQQ and Seat 3 flips over JJ for 1 pair.
So as sugar plum fairies dance in my head because I have just been given this Christmas gift in June of a ridiculous table now I have to sit and wait for a hand to make money.
Another mental note, people who min-raise each other believe they have the nuts. But don’t let it be confused by what you consider the nuts and what they consider the nuts. HAHAHAHA
After a couple of orbits I pick up 810 off on the button, 7 limpers so I come in along for the ride. Flop comes K105 rainbow. Old man in seat one makes it 30 to go it is folded around to me and normally I would take this 30 dollar bet as “I have a K but I don’t know how good my kicker is so please don’t call,” but he was an old rock and I figure any K he would have raised with or folded Kx as he was tight, so I figure that this point he must have some sort of PP or maybe a 10, thinking 10J or maybe 10Q so I know if I call him I can slow him down on the turn where I can steal the pot from him with a big bet.
Well to my surprise the small blind also calls the 30 bucks….WTF….where did this guy come from…lol…now I am in trouble because I know he is holding the K looking to rinse one of us.
Thank goodness the turn brings a lovely 8 and now they both check to me, I fire out 70 bucks and get 2 folds. Bad read on my part I guess no one had a K. Ah well still picked up a nice little pot and stacked my chips.
About 1 hour in now and I have watched people stack off with 1 pair ace kicker against made hands (straights/flushes etc) and I am getting antsy…when will it be my turn to get someone stack….well I can tell you right now not today as I play for 1 more hour and leave.
Fast forward hands (as I realize this trip report is TL)
Raise with KQ on the button to 25 get 3 callers. Flop comes Q46 I have one person come down with me all the way to the river (flop bet 45, turn bet 65, river fold)
Raise with JJ in LP and get 1 caller, flop comes 1074, I check , he checks. (dammit I thought he would fire at the pot). Turn is 8, I bet out 45 he snap calls so at this point I am thinking maybe some sort of combo draw with a pair, river is a 2, I bet out 35 and he calls me (I know weak bet, but I had played beside this guy the whole game and we had become friends talking about life, etc….he flips over 99 and I take down the pot.
That was pretty much it for my wins, I ended up dumping some money with K8 clubs when I flopped a flush draw but villain flopped two pair and then made a tight on the turn (I didn’t catch my club, but called his hole cards out on the flop and then laughed when he made the tight on the turn)
Also called out a preflop raise after folding KJH to a re-raise of 75 from the SB…told him he had either QQ or AA but after I mentioned QQ the side of his mouth moved a bit so I told him I could now officially call for a K cause I was 100% sure he had QQ, but I was a nit and I folded. He tabled QQ and even the dealer made a comment to the effect of how did you know….again…..I said “buy my book, it comes with a free t-shirt as well”
Final tally for the 2 hour session was +300 (1 buy in which I was happy with), got to enjoy some good company for the couple of hours and see FV fish at their best. I did give a few tips like “if someone re-raises you on the flop and they haven’t played a hand yet, chances are they have the nuts,” and “if someone re-raises you big from the SB or BB and they are a tight player they usually have JJ+
Cliff notes:
1. Went to FV to play before WSOP – decided to play 2-5 for fun
2. Full table full of fish
3. Called out hole cards and hands like a beast and got my ego stroked
4. Made 300 bucks in 2 hours of playing ABC poker

Comments
I think I need to make one of these trips before I go to brush up on my game as well.
Ah sorry, my bad...I always just count the min raise as double the previous bet...not technically correct but I hope it made its point.
And if you are going to fv just let me know so I know when not to go....can't compete against WSOP ME'ers lol
Yeah..that's a common misconception. And no, I'm not any good, just runs good and get lucky.
I'm probably just going to hit up Brantford as FV is quite a drive.
Thanks for posting it!
Good luck in the WSOP!
