  • Wow!

    That article is so biased!
  • Interesting read....mental note...playing poker in London Ont is scary, too many loan sharks and collusion....

Funny thing is like i told someone the other day, why would someone want to run a crooked game. As soon as people find out it is full of cheats and hustlers the game will never be populated by fish again.

with your win rate, who needs a loan shark :)

I guess with the summer upon us, we should expect to see some more GTA busts in the coming months.
  • Lost count of all the EXTREMES in that article.

Sheesh...nothing like the police and the press blowing it WAY out of proportion.

But at least the UCO stated what is and is not illegal...that's something you don't read in the papers often enough. Or the fact that most judges don't even consider it a crime.

Yeah CNE is opening in about a month that is usually the right time for the busts to take place....I steer clear of places during late July early August for that reason.
  • Reply from the reporter, after inquiring how much $$$ was seized, was that the police report did not mention an amount. I asked if he did not find that interesting considering how much $$$ his police source was saying could be involved at these dens of iniquity. I mean, for all I know, the cops may consider me a "high-roller" (current contents of wallet = $15.00). I had better be careful Friday night . . .

In the meantime, lets wait for a reply . . .
  • damn $15? balla, i got 65 cents

And I quote Barry G from high stakes poker....math is idiotic ;)
  • The reporter gets his data from someone who refuses to be identified.

There is no way of checking it out.
  • In otherwords based on the information he was given from Police he did the math and calculated the number.....LOL

I guess they still rake 30-40 bucks even when the blinds are chopped, etc...
  • If it is the game I think it is, they take 10% from every pot...REGARDLESS OF THE SIZE.

Pot is $600, they take $60.

Pot is $100, they take $10.

    No cap on the rake.

I laughed when my friend told me he played there more than once, what a fish...

    .

Looks like the woodbridge game has spread to London.
  • I live in London and play in London just about every week and I'm not at all concerned. Of course I can't afford to play in that type of Game. The games I play don't rake, or, if there is a rake, it's so little it is not enough to pay for the refreshments. The police are not interested in this type of game.

I enjoy the fellowship and challenges the game offers. I stay away from the type of games were people can destroy one another. I don't want to take someones rent money. Just maybe some people need to be protected from there own stupidity. I took note of where the Police get their information.

    looking for another player?
  • I ran a game in London until about 1 1/2 years ago. We got busted, for a $100 max game with sesson fee. Apparently, the cops were told we were running dope and / or other illegal stuff (are you kidding me??) and they came in with about 12 cops.

They were kind of suprised to see such a simple game going on. We didn't even serve alcohol. Long story short, the dealers paid $500 to a charity, and the players paid $250 to local charity.
