Seneca Summer Slam Tournaments July 10-19

For those not travelling to Vegas for the main event this year (I guess technically you can play both), there are some decent tournaments coming up in July at Seneca Casino. The buy-ins are reasonable with several tournaments in the $100-$200US range and 10,000 starting stacks and 30 minute blinds. They also have knockout and shootout formats and a Omaha tournament this year.

More details can be found here: Seneca Poker | Summer Slam

I may head down for the July 10/11 tournaments.

  • You may want to ask if they're still withholding 30% even from small cashouts by Canadians instead of only over 5K wins... Would hate to win 1k from one of these and then they keep $300.
  • Even the American players hate Seneca's stupid policy of taxing 30% on any win over $1 as (almost) all the Canadians stopped crossing the border to play any tournament. It was really sad when Canadians just made it to the money, but after the 30% tax, they actually lost money! :'(

  • Just had some small banter with one of the Seneca dealers on 2p2.

Hopefully they can adjust policies and we can get back to raping the decent exchange rate.....to be continued......
  • anyone been or going down next week? I will be playing in the July 16 $175 tournament w 10,000 starting stack and 30 min blinds.
  • Might head out if I get a couple friends to go.
  • I would be interested depending on when you guys are going. I don't have worry about the 30% since I never cash so I at least have that advantage.... I assume Seneca hasn't changed their witholding policies?
  • I am playing tomorrow if anyone wants to go from the GTA.
  • I'm going early Thursday morning around 6am, and making my way back to Hamilton for the Green Day show at 9pm.
  • Probably heading down on the 18th in the morning. Play 1/2 before the tournament as some of the players entered in the tournament will play just to kill time before the tournament starts (usually profitable). Then when the tournament starts will switch to 2/5 as players getting knocked out will play at this level in hopes of making some of there money back. I have found over time this is a more profitable situation for me and also no withholding tax to worry about. I enjoy going during Seneca's tournament time lots of action, however I don't enter the tournament just go and play cash.

sounds like a good idea; I find their poker room is usually packed during tournament week and lots of people playing cash games giving away chips; last time I was there, I played in the $300 tournament, got knocked out when we were down to two tables and made back $400 playing 1/2 in a couple hours.
  • Looks like I won't get to Seneca until late afternoon now. Hopefully by then cash games will be going strong with tournament players who are trying to recoup there tourny buy ins.
