Almost the 500 BB club :(

Well I have to admit, I am still trying to join the '500 BB club' playing in live cash games. Last night was my closest attempt where I managed to build my $200 stack playing $1/$2 up to $1,117. So close yet so far :( It was still a great night, walking away with an $800 profit over three hours. Some great cards with some great bluffs. Anyone else trying to achieve this milestone? what's the most you have ever won playing in a single live cash game session?

Brantford limit 10/20, bought in for $500, reloaded for $200 once. Walked away with about $3900. Floor wouldn't let me colour up so I walked away with just short of 7 racks.
  • Good stuff guys. Should this be in the Beats and Brag section?

Still haven't gotten up the nut to play live cash yet.

What is a standard good session in BB terms?
  • Best I've done is 1/2, started with $100, left with $590 in profit. Was a nice night.
  • First time live $1/2 at the WSPC when they were in Mississauga. Bought in for $60 and left with $280 about two hours later. Thats all, for now . . .

Congrats, that is sick! Was this at Casino Niagara btw?
  • Gratz!

I recently broke the 500BB mark, although I didn't know there was a club. Profited $1002 at 1/2 NL at Casino Niagara. First time ever about 5 sessions (3 weeks) ago. I wasn't trying to hit the mark, just cashed out at the right time.

The ironic thing is two sessions later I repeated the feat. It must be like the '4 minute mile' mental barrier runners have; once you break it you can do it easier.

... mind you it took me a much longer sessions than 3 hours. That is very impressive sir.
  • My best was the last time I playing in Georgetown, over a year ago. After busting out the tournament, I started to play the 1/2 cash game. Lost my first buyin with my 78o got rivered by a bigger two pr (Damn you Doctor!), rebuy, and after about 5 hrs or so, walked away with just under $1000...there were two really deep pocketed fish at that game that just kept trying to out play each other (poorly I might add), and I just sat back and waited. Felted the one guy 3x before he gave up and left.
  • I have always wanted to break the $1k profit mark playing 1/2; figured the term '500 BB club' was more general, depending on what level you play at. Figured I was the only person not to reach the 500 bb mark. Any really big profit stories out there?
  • You can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin him once.
  • Not like I had FORCED him to continue playing, he did that on his own. And from what I understand, he is/was a regular donator at the weekly game.

if you are referring to the brothers, I heard one died and the other went busto.
  • That's why the G'Town game went under.....

too many changes in management (seemed like a weekly occurence); it wasn't the same once the orginal guy left. Use to be a great place to play.
  • Back when I started playing 1/2 NL, I bought in for the max. and multiplied it by over 20 times in four hours! Since I had horseshoes that night, players that kept busting out started moving to another table until I was the only one left in the table.

  • Not a rare occurrance in Alberta........1-2 buy-in is $50 - 500 at most places. Buy-in deep and aim for the big stacks. Best I've done @ 1-2, 500 buy-in, cash out 1700.

Now how about -500 BB? That's very attainable.

$4k playing 1/2!! now that is a story waiting to be told. must have been some big stacks at the table to achieve that. $200 every 12 minutes... wow!

my worse session has been around -225BB; most of it came off a big semi-bluff
  • My best was buy in for 150, 1/2NL and 8 hours later had 970. was up the bulk of it in the first 4-5 hours...in Penticton.

Langley paid 850 in 3 hours from a 150 buy in...(did it twice there but lost a big chunk the first time)

My 1/2NL live sessions have always netted me 100/hr. min. So far. lol..waiting for variance to kick in there...only 6 or 7 sessions under the belt.

Going to try 5/10NL next time in Vancouver though...I watched those tables for hours..no different from my vantage point...would be nice to hit the 500bb with that buy in.
  • I've come close. I have a bunch of +$700 nights playing 1/2 but never quite over the $1000 mark. I recently cashed for $1000 but $650 of it was mine. That night was shaping up really badly until I ran my last $100 up to $1000 playing 3 handed at the end of the night.

its coming, you wait; if it was that easy, none of us would have day jobs :) well most of us have day jobs anyways.
  • +1100 was my biggest for 1/2 at Edgewater in BC on business trip last year.

Ran 200 up to about 500, at a ridic. deep table.

Then shipped a 3 way pot with set>set>flush draw and held.

    Win.

Oh I know it is...not a biggie...I don't play unless I can afford to drop my 3 buy-ins that are in my pocket. I usually buy in for 150 instead of the max 200, that way I get three pretty healthy stacks for 450, instead of 600...I know there are arguments against this...but, it works for me and my mindset..lol

Though, I am hoping the variance comes while I am playing my .10/.20 cent game..lol..which, actually has been beating me up pretty good the last few sessions..down 200bb's each of the last two sessions...
