Nothing is more sour than being up in a session then 6 hours later lose all your profit in one hand.
I track my sessions by hourly rate so I don't mind picking up 200-500 in a 1-3 hour span and then quitting.
What kind of hourly rate do you aim for at 1/2?
50-75 bucks max....for 1/2
in 2/5-5/10 I usually aim for 200-300 max.......
Currently based off of my spreadsheet at home for live sessions my 2-5 - 5/5/10 (which i consider higher than 5/10 because of the 3rd blind added is approx 275.00/hr.
My avg session is between 3-5 hours
lol
I didn't think it was so bad considering I play part time and usually between the hours of 11pm-2am then goto work the next day...and these are live sessions not online.
Oh I remember that hand, I think I was the only one that folded preflop.....
No not really. Sit in a game up in woodbridge and you will see pure gambling and no poker skill. These pots are a weekly occurance. Just on this thursday night alone there were all in pots where you had j4d vs 55 where J4 flops a flush draw and 55 flops a set after a preflop raise....J4d is shoving on 55....for 1000 pot.
You win one or two a night of these pots and you easily clear 500+ in a matter of 2-3 hours tops. But what also happens is a lot of times when you are raising preflop and c-betting you are missing boards so you end up giving some back as well. The key is to leave with your profit(goal) and call it a night.
Like I have said previously I never play with more than 2 buy ins (usally max 1000 i will bring) and that allows me to scoop and leave.
Most games don't start till 10-11pm anyways and cause I work full time I usually end up leaving at 2-3am latest.
I live in Maple so I'd love to come to one of these games, can you pm me more info please?
Your rate includes losses? I assume you do lose on occasion.
That's a crazy win rate for that level. Why keep a day job?
Yeah my rates include losses, and I have lost my fair share of games. But I just stick to a prudent BR management approach to 2 buy ins swings.
So the most I usually lose in one session is 1000 max but most times I leave even before I lose my second buy in. I know in these games people go 3-4K deep or more. Its truly gambling at its finest.
Playing in these games for as long as I have I sorta know when its going to run good and when things are dry I don't waste my time. I have learned never to force action.
The reason why I work full time is because I like my benefits and I look at poker as a hobby and a way to make some good second income. I think if I started to play full time I wouldn't have as much fun as I do now.
