Anyone know when that is starting up this year?

I'm looking forward to it.. but haven't heard anything recently..

    I heard the bad news last week, but after playing 5/10 at Fallsview this weekend, it was confirmed to me that WPT Fallsview is dead! :'( Assuming that the WPT doesn't go out of business, there will be a WPT Barcelona, a WPT Slovakia, a WPT Merit Cyprus, a WPT Indiana and even a WPT Marrakech, but no more WPT Canadian events. :rage:

    I hear from last years winner that it was moved to Janurary. I sat at with him at the GBH tournament.

    lots of rumours with this. I have heard all the above plus this.

    The North American Poker Championship will be held at Turning Stone or Foxwoods if it will not be at Fallsview.

    I guess we will just have to wait and see when The WPT announces their Season 8 schedule

    Believe that only lasted 1 event in Vancouver.....but, yeah, it looked promising.

    WPT overseas: Venice, Barcelona, Slovakia, Merit Cyprus, & Marrakech.
    WPT in Canada: 0 :'(

    Goodbye WPT. Hopefully one or more of the following will happen:
    - WSOP circuit event in Caesars Windsor
    - Fallsview Casino has its own tournament in partnership with the Canadian Poker Tour
    - PokerStars sets up a poker tour in Canada.

    I was talking to the TD at Caesars LV along with the WSOPc rep about this in April and they stated it is a strong possibility.

    I received a message from the manager of communications from the Fallsview casino. He stated:

    After three very exciting seasons as the host of the WPT's North American Poker Championship, Fallsview Casino Resort has decided to end its involvement with the event.

    A tournament of this size represents a significant marketing expense, including licensing fees, hotel rooms, convention space, labour, and so on. Given the current economic conditions, we felt those resources could be used more effectively to bolster other aspects of our marketing programs for the coming year.

    Looks like its gone for good.

    Blondefish is about as up to date as I have heard...both Stars and CPT are looking at this event, but WPT is out to the best of my knowledge.

    Oh yeah, Blondefish, I have asked David @ Hardrock where to find Blind structures for HardRock and also if there will be single table sats, hope to hear soon.

    Maybe Vancouver can pick up an APPT stop.

    Asia- Pacific and they are Pacific.

    Is River Rock big enough to host a 1000 person event? The BC poker Open was only 300 or 500 I think.

    With the WPT becoming more worldly -maybe the WSOP circuit and the WPT won't compete so much for limited $ . SO maybe they both do better. Which could mean an expansion of the WSOP circuit to Windsor as mentioned.

    Great idea/ suggestion.

    Any word if Fallsview is holding a tournament to replace the WPT event? I know members here have heard rumours, but is there anyone who has heard anything besides rumours? Seems like none of the casinos here in Ontario really care to run any kind of tournament series over a week with different buyin options. Best tournaments in the vicinity are at Turning Stone and Seneca (to bad with the witholding tax).

    There are discussions, but you never know what will happen with Ontario's heavily government-regulated gambling industry. Keep your fingers crossed that Canada (and NAPT) will be part of PokerStars' world domination plans, just like EPT, LAPT, APPT, IPT, etc. If PokerStars doesn't end up buying out CPT, maybe it will be a CPT event "brought to you by PokerStars.net", so instead of only a few forumers supporting CPT events, many more will be playing PokerStars' satellites.

    Sweet maybe I should hold off on my online affiliate search and see where this goes?????

    In my personal opinion the CPT has no plans of selling to Stars in the near future, they are thinking bigger than what Stars wants to offer.

    January 2010 could become a very busy month for tournaments.

    - WPT abandoned Canada :'( and replaced it with the WPT Southern Championship in Mississippi on January 24 to 27.

    - WSOP Circuit Event - Tunica, January 20 to February 11.

    - PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, January 4-14; may be changed to be part of the new North American Poker Tour instead of the EPT.

    - Aussie Millions, January 14-31.

    - WPS/CPT Ocean World Poker Showdown in Dominican Republic, January 15-25.

    - Fallsview Casino?

    - CPT Player Points Showdown?

    - APT Philippines: another thrilla in Manila?

    In the words of Vinny Barbarino, "I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo confused!" :-\
    I will gladly play any event(s) that I can win a seat to, but my first choice would be the CPT Player Points Showdown and my last choices would be the two US shark-infested -EV events with 30% withholding tax.

    Take the Ocean World Showdown! My buddy "DC" took second in one last year there, the 2600 event. There is a slight chance I might even play with ya, but I am a little green for that.

    Kelly's FaceBook status mentioned returning from Toronoto and a Fallsview. Some one asked about BCPC and he told them Stars looks to have that wrapped up, no CPT there.

    Kelly did also mention Fallsview to me last week. There are a couple edges CPT might have in getting that, but Stars is a big Dog to be in the pen with....

    One thing for sure, it will be interesting to see what develops!

    No way Stars is getting this, hell it will be a surprise if anyone gets it. Online affiliations are not working for Gaming comisions, especially if they embed logos in the broadcast.

    BC is really the only province online poker friendly, my blog topic today. Let me know what you guys think of it, if you get bored.....
