Poker Tourney Help for Nov. 2010

Putting together a poker tourney for 2010 and was wondering if anyone from the site can or knows anyone or company that does pit work and helps oversee the tournament while it is running. Normally i would do it, but in this case, i am actually in the tournament and can't spend time overseeing it while playing in it. It is the first, in what i hope will be, an annual event.
So far the details are as follows: Field- 400 max. Buy-in: $2500.00 Pay-out: 63 places. Top prize: $182,400(approx) Location: At Sea
More details to follow later.

If anyone knows any companies that provide pit/regulators for this type of event, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  • Nov, 2010???? Why so far out? The world could have come to an end by then... As to your question, how about our own Zithal, Dataman or perhaps even Prophet? All can design and run a good tournament. Or do you want someone to supply tables/location as well? And $2500. buyin, is this going to be some sort of charity event? What does "at sea" mean?

Boat Cruise comes to mind, as a way of ensuring a "problem" free environment. *wink-wink*. Other than that, I got no clue, either . . .

Maybe for you old man. ;)
For the rest of us, it will be Dec 20, 2012 ;)
  • LOL, well hopefully the world will not end by then. The reason it is set for 2010 is because it will be the first time setting up this tournament in this environment. And yes "at sea" is referring to a cruise. Seeing as my sister owns a cruiseship centre, we are collaberating on this idea and she needs to get everything set-up and questions answered from the cruise liners as to costs for rentals of meeting rooms, tables etc. and laws governing international waters etc. We do know that the tournament can only be played while the ship is at sea. So with most 7-10 day cruises taking port in a few key locations, the tournament must halt at those times etc. But, so far everything seems really feesable when it comes to time frame for allowable play etc. Also, despite the cost of cruise itself, that covers all meals and drinks as well. So in the end, players get a great vacation, a good value tournament and a great experience. All in all, i think it's a win win situation. And with 400 players on board, the side games at the onboard casino should be pretty good as well.
  • Also, it is not a charity event. Strictly a normal style money tournament. At present, the buy-in is set for $2500 ($2400 to pot, $100 to go towards expenses) Making a full tournament with a $960,000 prize pool.
We are checking with the onboard casino to see about using/renting their poker tables, if this is not do-able, then we will rent and bring our own. Same with tournament chips etc. The tournament will payout its prize pool at the conclusion of the tournament. (No waiting for winnings) With it being the 1st, top prizes will be cash, but we are hoping if it goes well and becomes an annual event, then we will add a trophy of some kind as well for the winner (thinking along the lines of an etched crystal design of some kind) Something the winners can proudly display. Anyway, any more questions, or suggestions, please let me know and i will answer all that i can at this point.

site is currently under construction but it is run by a guy named curtis who runs a really good tournament. He runs the orangeville league and a bunch of lions club tournies.

he has all the tables and chips etc. and will deal the final table. his wife is a killer at the tables so don't let her sign up ;)
  • Another guy that runs great tournaments is Brian Kessler of Big Slick Poker Tour. Big Slick Poker Tour - Home I can pass you his info in PM if you would like. I will be seeing him this weekend.
