Which day would you play in WSOP Main Event?
If you win a seat to the WSOP Main Event, which starting day would you play (assuming you are able to play in any of the four days)? Here are the statistics from last year.
Day 1A, Friday, July 5, 2008: 636 or 49% of 1,297 players made it to day 2A. The biggest stack was 194,900.
Day 1B, Saturday: 615 / 1,158 = 53.1%. 177,500.
Day 1C, Sunday: 1,026 / 1,928 = 53.2% made it to day 2B. 242,950.
Day 1D, Monday: 1,352 / 2,461 = 54.9%. 149,000.
The last day, Monday, was by far the most popular. The following are some of the reasons:
- Many players who won a seat early but have limited vacation time will pre-register for the final day in case they make it deep and can't go back home yet (up to Day 8 ).
- Many non-pros will play the satellites to try to win an entry. The first two days will probably have the fewest players. If they still haven't won after the final Turbo Mega Satellite the morning of day 1D, they will pony up the $10,000 cash.
- Non-resident pros who want to take away SirWatts' crown at the WPT $15K Bellagio event starting on July 13 may prefer the final day 1D on July 6.
1A, Friday:
- Those who are already in Las Vegas in June (e.g., $1500 Event 54 on June 29) may want to play early to see if they if they need to stay for Day 2 on July 7.
1B, Saturday, July 4:
- Due to the Fourth of July holiday, this may be the least busy day again.
1C, Sunday:
- Due to the Sunday Majors online, there may be less online tournament pros choosing day 1C.
- Players who partied on July 4 may still be drunk.

GL in your 10,000 decision
I'd pick this day because I think it's pretty significant that less online pros won't want to play this day because they want to grind sundays.
If you win you can prepare and study/rest.
If you bust out you can crush the sat's or get into the soft side game action without having to worry about preping/resting for the ME.
once the ME starts cash games are pretty much non-existent in the Amazon room.
You coming out for this?
