Newb Poker Chips Question Coming Through!

Hi there, I am looking to purchase a poker chip set (500 chip's), any recommendations for good poker suppliers in Ontario or Canadian online stores?

Comments

  • Are you looking for any time of chip set in particular? Basic 11.5g insert chips? Or clay chips?
  • Not to promote another forum, but this is a good site for chips:

    Poker Chips-ChipTalk.net
  • I was looking at this set Straight Poker Supplies - Canada's #1 Online Poker Super Store !!!

From a company in Toronto, I was thinking of spending around $100 ish

Those look pretty nice and if its $100 with shipping thats not too bad. I am pretty sure costco and walmart will sell the cheaper 11.5g ones for less, but the ones you posted looke nicer than those. Have you checked ebay also?
  • I checked out E-bay, it seems that with shipping charges the deals are not much better, plus there is always the chance of having to pay addtional fees when bringing items across the border. I checked for Canadian E-Bay sales and did not see much listed there.
  • Ugh 14 gram chips are so heavy you will hate them after a while. Also cash or tourney set? Most tourney sets are 25, 100, 500, 1000, 5000.
  • The chipmaster has spoken
By the way Moose- Nice new Avatar
Johnnie's suggestion about chip.net s a good one. I bought a cash set last year and they have been good to use.
Golf season is upon us, so I don't get on very regularly,

The denominations are $1,$5,$10,$25,$50 I am guessing that is a cash game set.

Hey I'm not kidding I am a newb lol, I have only played Low level ring games and micro buy in tourneys on poker stars. I also do the free-rolls on Full tilt and A/P, thats it so far.

At this point I only intend to play home games with friends until I stop being a horrible player!
  • Don't forget to check kijiji for cheap(er) poker stuff now that the fad is over.

Listen to Moose's chip advice. He's our guru.
  • I meant do you want to play tournaments or cash games. If you want to play both you are better off with a non-denominated set so you can set the values to anything you want.

O i see, I guess I would be better off with non denominations then they could be anything, does that get confusing?
  • Pick the std colours that go with what you will play most - cash or tourneys. Then it will be easier than if you pick a bunch of random colours.

    Cash
.25 blue or grey or orange
    1 white
    5 red
    25 green
    100 black

    Tourney
    25 green
    100 black
    500 purple
    1000 yellow
5000 grey or blue or orange

Where the heck is gadshill. I have 500 chips you can have for cheap, say $30.

  • For the record, moose's chip collection is a must see. After playing with those checks you will never want to endure dice chips again.
