Secrets to crushing fallsview games

#1 - the games are loose passive. That means you need to value bet and fold decent hands to raises.

#2 - pay attention at all times. The more info you have the better your decisions will be.

#3 - position is very important, but you still want to stick to playing good hands in good position.

#4 - if you cannot fold for two orbits you will never make it anywhere in poker.

#5 - take a break at least once an hour. Don't play insanely long sessions. Eat before you play, you'll need the energy. Take a break any time you take a sick beat. If you make a couple of crap pf limps, you need to take a break and maybe quit for the day. Bring your A game or go home, this is your money we are talking about!

#6 - shut up. Stop talking! Do not say a word. poker is a war for information, and even if you're just being sociable you are probably leaking data like a sponge. Whatever you do, do not verbalize your bets - this is usually where I can tell if a player has it or not.

#7 - learn how to fold donkey

that's it for now. I suggest you scrubs listen up!

I bought the sampler pack, you want a Keiths Red, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Heineken?

Sounds good, I'd say toss one on for Ivey but I heard he chained himself to a tree in front of Grahams place protesting Kristys ban.

    Sidenote.. I miss Kristy :(
  • Out of curiousity, what makes the way you play fallsview games different from any other casino?
  • Quality advices ITT.

I look forward to implementing the outlined strategies and profiting.
  • Incidentally I am 12 tabling as I write this response. In a very loose sense all poker games are the same, you make 5 card hands of various probability and then gamble on expected outcomes. These observations are specific to the fallsview game and the general texture of their 5/5 and 5/10 games. An observation of the aggregate character of your opposition in specific, if you will.
  • haha NO

so i will take a burger!:)

  • <3 Meistro.

Please continue. AFAIK this is revolutionary.
  • I guess what I am trying to say is that this is a sociological post.
  • Less sociology more strategy please.

#4 seem a little tight to me; maybe more applicable at higher levels 5/10+?

#5 don't agree with taking a break after a sick beat; shows weakness. if you can't handle the beat, should be playing a different game. I don't need to 'dodge bullets baby'; pf calls once in a while with suited connectors, pocket pairs isn't always a bad play, especially with multi way action.

#7 - I think I fold too much, which I am improving at (thanks to GTA).
  • I agree with taking breaks, but I don't think you have to be the unibomber at the table like #6 implies.

I thought they were specific to the fishy 2/5 game, but it's good to know that they also apply to 5/10. Next time I carpool to Fallsview, I'll start taking shots at 5/10 and skip the 2/5 aquarium.

I strongly agree that poker is a war of information, but most Unabomber-wannabes with hoodies, sunglasses and don't say a single word for the entire game lose money. IMHO, having a friendly Negreanu-like disposition is much better at winning money in a table of exploitable players.

  • If it rains outside make sure you take an umbrella.
  • if they have chicken salad and tuna on the menu at the sandwich shop, make sure you get chicken salad.
  • pick the hooker without the gaping sores
  • I mainly play the 2/5 and 5/5 so this may not apply to the 5/10 and 10/20.

A playful image much is better than a rock image.

Many people come to the poker room to be entertained.

    *NOT* to make money.

The best games are full of noisy, drinking, laughing players with an attractive lady to distract the other players.

If you have a war mentality you will not get loose calls from players who are there to have fun.

Players will give you much more action if you have a fun, playful, talkative image.

By talking you can make them call, fold and raise when you want them to.

Yes, I agree with them except the one about not talking.
  • Going to be at fallsview for the next 2 days so lets see how your tips work out.

It will be a big change from my current style of chatting away and playing every hand, from every position for 6-12 hours non-stop without a break ... who knows might make a difference.

also remind me, does three pair beat trips?
