OIC anyone?
Has anyone heard of this? It's a competition (sortof) that some people on the 2+2 forum have put together with the intention of giving their low limit members an opportunity to play at higher limits with little risk to their own bankroll.
They have set it up on The Gaming Club. Everyone deposits $50 to start as their bankroll. Play starts at 0.50/1 and when you hit certain plateaus in bankroll, you move up. If you lose money at a level that puts you below a threshold, you move down. The goal is to get up as far as you can go. Winner overall wins an additional $500 (on top of the money that you've grown your bankroll to). The contest started yesterday and goes for 4 weeks.
If you bust out completely, the site will refund your original $50 provided you've met their playing requirements.. (certain amount of frequent player points).
When you sign up it asks what forum you're affiliated with. One of the options was Canadian Poker Forum, so I was wondering if anyone else here has joined in.
Here's the link with complete info:

Almost correct...
If you lose the $50 they will refund it.
If you get 300 BRPs (prima raked hand) they will also refund you the $50.
Well, I'll do my best to represent!
15th place after 1 day. Surprisingly the leader is only at ~$200... I thought by now they'd have gone all super-psycho and be at $2000 playing 15/30 or something
The challenge is not so easy. It will definitely push your limits There is a bit of short term luck involved and swings can get quite big but if you move up to higher limits there is some experience to be gained as a result.
We'd encourage others at pokerforum.ca to give it a shot. If you do want to give it a bash though, please ensure that you read and follow the rules very carefully!

If you received a pop-up telling you that your details have been submitted, then you can begin your play. We've checked as well and you're registered. Enjoy it.

PhallicPhil - you're doing a really good job of staying on that leader board
How is the OIC going for everyone else from pokerforum.ca who's taking part?

I ended up playing too many hands trying to reach 300brp before the deadline. Played too many "get in trouble" hands, and that was my downfall.
