Kicker
I just finished a game and a hand confused us.
If two players have the same hand and the same kicker, does the 2nd card count as another kicker or it's split pot?
Is this the official rule? Where can I find the official rules?

You hold A7
Oponent holds A3
board 10 J Q K 4
Both make A high straight.
If so, split pot. The best 5 card hand wins. If your kickers do not play then it's still split. His best possible 5 card hand is the same as your best possible 5 card hand.
I've seen people at bar or home games get confused about this. Hope this helps.
Quick answer : Yes
Depending on the type of game, but I'll assume Hold 'em, your hand isn't just "two pair / top pair / three of a kind" etc etc, but rather your best 5 card hand, so TECHNICALLY is you have AA on a board of KJ482, your actual hand is "AAKJ8".
So, if the board was something like AJ432, and you have A10 and someone else has A8, then your hand is a pair of aces, jack kicker (for both of you), but your actual hand is A-J-10-4-3, where his is A-J-8-4-3, making your hand better.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Just to be sure, correct me if I'm wrong.
AAJJ4
P1: K7
P2: K6
AAJJ8
P1: K7
P2: K6
AKQ104
P1: J8
P2: J7
All situations are split pots.
AA238
P1: 10,4
P2: 10,5
In this situation P2 wins.
AA679
P1: 10,4
P2: 10,5
Split pot.
Here's another one.. who wins this one?
Board: AAJJ4
Player one has K10
Player two had K4

The first player to bet ???
Split pot...
Yeah, I think that's what happened yesterday.
It would be split pot.
What about this one? Can the second card be considered another kicker?
AAA54
P1: K10
P2: K7
Yes, it's always the best 5 hard hand....
AAAKT is better than AAAK7 (since both players hole cards are higher than the other cards on board)
Now if player 2 had K2 he would be playing AAAK5 since the 5 on board is higher than the 2 in the players hand.
In Hold'em you can use 0, 1, or 2 of your hole cards. So in this last example, player 1 is using both his hole cards while P2 is using 1.
I raise! Finally we have a thread with good productive discussion...... Kinda refreshing..
