SNG - More tables or move up in limits?

I play mainly $22 no-limit SNG on Fulltilt and have been doing pretty well lately. I've got my initial bankroll from 3 months ago up from $75 to $1700 right now and I have a ROI above 30%.

I have a couple of questions?

1) Should I just try and add more tables or move up in limits? I generally play only 2-3 tables at once.

2) If you suggest i move in limits what limits should I move up to and what is the biggest differences between the $22 games and the higher one's you suggest?

In one bankroll article I've read you shouldn't invest more than 5% of your BR on a SNG or buy-in but that would mean that my BR could support a game as high as $85, which seems like to big of a jump.

Thanks in advance for all for the response.

  • Coach me please :)
  • It is probably dependent on the way you play, but I think trying a few more tables first would be a good idea because you seem to be doing pretty well at that level. The other option would be to do a mix of 2 and 2 and see how your return on the different levels is. For the other level, I'd start with $33 and move up from there.
  • 30 dollar no difference then 20 dollar buy in in skill level so if your doing good at 20's you should not have a problem at 30's
  • It seems nowadays the sexy thing to do is find a small stakes you can beat, and then zerg as many tables as you possibly can to increase your winnings...instead of the traditional move up in limits. I personally have a strong distaste for the zerg theory but I understand the motivation becauses its obviously much easier to just work on making your decisions quicker rather then making deeper harder decisions.

But the people that move up in limits and push themselves have such a higher ceiling for potential earnings then the guys that muck around on a 24+ tables of smaller stakes. Those that dont run the risk of their game becoming stagnant and being swallowed up by the new generation of players.
