PS Double or Nothing

hey,

I decided to play a few "double or nothing" sng's... i love em. Sure the payout isin't that great, but you gotta love doubling up your buy in for coming "fifth" place. Just a fun thing to do for a pretty solid chance at winning. opinions ?

I find them to be rock fests by anyone who understands them, but if you are aggressive and can steal in the right spots, they can be profitable.
  • One thing I've learned is do not mess with bigger stacks unless you got a REAL good one, the motto seems to be pick on the small stacks..

Which actually works well when you ARE a small stack, you are almost guaranteed to be called if you shove!
  • Play your big hands fast and your bad hands slow..it always works....

Especially later on when you shove with AA or KK someone calls off their stack thinking you have ace high or something....lol
  • I've recently started playin' the DON's myself and think they're great. Like you say, smaller payout, but they are easy money. I even had two tourneys where I sat out as I was called away (damn dogs), and still ended up in the money! :)
Most players play so tight, that they get short stacked pretty quickly with no fold equity. I'd almost say they are mindless tournaments, but occasionally you get into one where there are a LOT of quality players. Overall, these are great tourneys for folks new to the "real money" side of the site. Small buy ins with the chance to win by coming in 5th!!
  • really, that is perfect tournament`s structure.
Do you know any other rooms with such tournaments?
I know that Titan has a Double up tournaments too.
    please recomend any other rooms.
  • I've only seen the DON's on Titan and Pstars. I play Pstars because there is less rake. Buy in is $5.20 as compared to Titan's $5.50. I know Full Tilt has NOT adopted these games yet, and may never, as they seem to do well with their multi table "matrix" tourneys. (I personally think these are a waste, as you can win just as much money on a single table SnG)
These are the only three sites I play (should only be two, but Graham "strong arms" everyone into playing on Titan just because they also add money for nothing ;) ,so I don't have any info on the others.
  • I like them too, they were a lot softer 3 months ago though. A couple good hands and you are pretty much guaranteed to double.
