April 22, 2009 Ladies Tournament at the Great Blue Heron

Hello Ladies

Once again we are running our ladies tournament at the Great Blue Heron. I have attached a pdf document with the details for everyone to see.

Last years was alot of fun for all the ladies who played. I look forward to seeing everyone again. Good Luck All.

Not sure how they could prevent a man from signing up. :)
  • I assume some guys will be playing in this tournament as it will unlikely fill up. DM, BF??

I've tried to convince her to play live for a couple of years, she just won't... Too bad, I'm pretty sure with her patience and ability to read people in other ways she would do well... Actually one of our lady Rock members, Natalie, has cashed in a couple of the casino tournaments, at GBH. I think one of them was a ladies tournament and the other an open one...
  • I thought I heard if the tournament is not full...men would be able to register the day of.

    shhh I am already in.
  • Hey Guys

The tournament has been opened up to the ladies first. We are hoping to see 110 ladies come out for this event. But if there are still seats open on the day of the tournament we will let you guys play. No dress required so no need to shave your legs. LOL
  • Now he tells us! Thanks. My bikini area is a little razor burned.

All jokes aside, I am curious as to how an organization run by the gov't can actually give preferential treatment to a specific group based on gender.

wake up! don't you know that women's only golf clubs, etc. are ok but men's golf clubs are a no, no.

Those are private entities. This is gov't owned and I am just curious.
  • Are any of the forum's female sharks playing in this or Casino Brantford's three ladies events? During yesterday's $1,100 Spring Classic at GBH, I asked how many ladies have registered and so far it is a girl-on-girl heads-up match - two! Many inexperienced ladies are hesitant about playing poker against nine other men in a table, so it makes business sense from a casino's point of view to have ladies events to encourage them to play poker, but if these events get so little support that they get canceled, then it will always be almost all men in a poker room. :(

    Sweet girl-on-girl action ;)

Just a brief note Hobbes, the GBH is not gov't owned but rather privately owned by the Mississauga of Scugog First Nation and operated by Casinos Austria.

The girl-on-girl heads-up action has increased to a whopping eight girls registered out of 110 seats. :o GBH needs two more players for the one table minimum in order for the tournament not to be canceled. The event has now been opened up to evil male players this morning. If I know there will be 102 men registering at the last minute for the full $55,000 prize pool, then I would play too. I don't really want to make the long drive if it's just a couple of tables.
  • My wife would have played but the buyin was too high. $200-$250 would have been better.

    Did not know that.

not curious enough to think about if for a minute:

The public school system offers women only shop classes to encourage girls to participate..and has been doing so since the year after I started highschool..so for quite a while!

Brag: I was the only girl in my class 28:1 ratio..so hot.
  • A male friend made the money and another male won the "Ladies" tournament. There were only two tables. With so little interest, hopefully the next Ladies tournament scheduled for August 26 will be changed to a regular 110-player event or at least be opened to male phone registrations in the final week if there's little interest again.

There are two more Ladies-Only tournaments at Casino Brantford for only $60, including May 11, but there were only 17 ladies in the last tournament. Thursday, April 30 is the fun rebuy event, with $40 unlimited rebuys and an estimated prize pool of $10,000.
