WSOP Main Event Seat

I've just heard that the Grey Eagle Casino, in Calgary, will be running a tournament in May (week before CPT Canadian Open also in Calgary) where the winner will receive an entry into the $10K Main Event at this years WSOP along with a hefty cash prize. If there are any Forum members in Calgary could they please look into this and see if it is true and get details if it is. Thanks in advance.

    Grey Eagle | Tournaments

Almost looks like a regular tourney, with a bonus of the winner getting a world series seat........not sure though.

    oh, and Habs suck
  • Just look and see which team has the most Stanley Cups T8urmoney, and thanks for the info.
  • Grey Eagle Casino is an official WSOP satellite location, along with Caesars Windsor and a WSOP league that I play in. Can somebody in Calgary please phone Grey Eagle Casino at 403-385-3777 to ask the following:

    1) Is the WSOP Main Event entry truly a bonus, i.e., a U$10,000 overlay on top of the buy-ins?
    2) Is the entry cashable or at least transferable?

If it's NOT too good to be true, then I may just have to play for the first time ever in another province outside Ontario. I hope it's not like Caesars Windsor's highly misleading "$25,000* GUARANTEED Prize Pool" but *ONLY if there are a minimum of 50 participants. That would be like the WSOP lying that they are guaranteeing a prize pool of $1 billion, but only if there are 100,000 players in the Main Event!
  • I called them this afternoon and the WSOP seat in the main event is truly a bonus prize to the first place finisher. The buy-in is $500.00 (including the admin fee), they have the tournament running over 3 days (130 players max/day) top 11 each day advance to the finals. The issue is 10k in tournament chips and the blinds go up every 30 minutes. I was also told if the event is full or close to full 1st prize will be in the 60K - 70K range, but the WSOP seat is awarded regardless. Under WSOP 3rd party entry rules the seat is non-transferable and the guy I spoke to said the winner must take the seat (no cash payout). Sounds like it might be worth a trip to Calgary and play at the Grey Eagle especially with the Canadian Open being held a few days after at the Stampede Casino.

He also said there is information on their web site greyeaglecasino.ca
  • Thanks. Since I luckily won a WSOP ME seat already, I won't be able to join the forumers taking advantage of this non-transferable U$10K bonus. Good luck!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention......I will probably go down to play, as it looks to be by far the best deal for a WSOP seat.
  • You're welcome T8urmoney, I'll see you there...am planning to play at Grey Eagle and then the Canadian Open. The Poker Room guy at Grey Eagle also mentioned they have rooms set up at the Sheraton 4 Points Hotel (supposed to be about 10 or 15 minutes from the Casino) @ about $80/night which also seems like a pretty good deal after I checked rates in Calgary.
