maybe a strange question?

Live game situation...

Player A and B heads up at a full table..

After river card is turned, player A calls flush and lays down their hand...

Player B says "3 of a kind" and lays them on the table..however..the board is paired as well, thus the hand being a full house..

No one notices immediately and the flush starts collecting money and full house starts matching the stacks as it was an all in call...suddenly realizing that they had a full house and not 3 of a kind, now chips are mixed and stacks are unsure of what they had prior to the hand...

What is the protocol here?

  • Still, they should be able to figure how much was in the pot and how much was being mixed. Of course, it's not going to be 100% accurate but should still be get at least 90%.

If they have camera installed over the table, then things will be much simpler.
  • No camera...home game situation...pot was mixed with other bets etc...they started matching stacks to the flush players count and moving them into the pot when they realized the error..by that time both players didn't know their count..,.the flush player may or may not have been knocked out...

I guess my question really is...It is the board that speaks, correct? The full house was valid even though the player stated 3 of a kind? There is some confusion on this part of the ruling as well.. There is no dealer nor pit boss...etc..just players..
  • House rules...

Whoever was running the gig should either A: Make a ruling, or B: Have a pre-existing precedent. Personally, if both players showed both their cards, I go with the full house winning

  • Correct, cards speak. This happened at the Point Edward Casino finals on Sunday when the dealer had already mucked all the cards and pushed the pot to the losing player when a player mentioned that the other player got the nut straight. The floor reversed the pot to the other player.

    Yes, cards speak, boat wins.

Neither player knew how much they were risking on the all-in? And no-one was paying attention to the action through the hand?

Sounds good, sign me up plz....
  • Can't think of a time where this happened where the players didn't have at least a fairly close guess as to what their stacks were. It's definitely on whoever the organizer of the game is to sort it out. My work game tends to be fairly good with stuff like this, in that when it happens we just figure it out as a group, although it's usually on me since they're all smashed by this point.
  • Well...they had a bit of a clue...they knew who had more to start with, but not by how much...they were all fairly new players. I walked onto the table about half way through the mess and noticed the boat on the table as they were paying the flush...they had chips everywhere.

It was a cluster..but it got sorted out correctly (for the most part)
