Bankroll

Do most of you grind it out and increase the BR piece by piece every day?? Seems like at 1/2 cent this is......going to take forever.

I mean seriously even 4 tabling and including variance it probably grows at like 3-5 bux per day on good days.

Maybe I should stick to tournaments?

I think I need surgically implanted patience. They can do that right?

  • Yes,

I did my time grinding it out at freerolls then I, "moved up to .01/.02"

I started by playing one table then two, then eventually 9 to 12...
Slowly I built up a roll.... I was lucky to run super duper hot (shameless unsustainable brag follows) I made 50 big blinds per 100 hands...
Most of my winnings were from stacking people, not so much from winning small pots.
  • Have fun take your time.....if you have under 20 buy ins for 10-25 cent i suggest tournies....otherwise 1-2cent is going to kill you...

Beating .01/.02 for a good clip should be pretty easy.

Your default move should be to raise from position -- bang those late position chips in there.
always play as deep stacked as possible.
try to get playing 10 tables * 70 hands /table/hour = 700 hands per hour.

    3000 hands per day at 50big blind/100 hands => 1500bb/day=> $30/day.
ten to 20 $30 days of whacking .01/.02 and you have +$300 and you can move up.
  • Even $3-5 per day is good as long as you're steadily moving up!

    I seem to hover between $15 and $25 :(

I used to as well. What changed my game from break even to making money was listening to those gut feelings and staying aggressive. Seriously I can't value the re-raise enough at these small stakes. 9/10 opponents you meet will give you the information you seek about their hand by either coming over the top of you, or laying down to your re-raise. I honestly don't think I've ever been 4 bet bluffed in a 1/2 cent nl hold'em game lol.

I think I developed a poker 'spidey sense' to some extent, at least on the players at the micro stakes. They mostly play pretty straightforwardly.
  • Let me know when you're online, we can grind 1$ tournaments together :P
  • I must say - I have crazy respect for anyone that has the stamina to build a bankroll playing 01/02 or $1 sng's.

That is, I respect you because you are crazy.

    ROFLMAO!!

Yea, it's brutal. But I just don't feel good enough to throw on say, a couple hundred bucks and playing some higher stakes. I'm hoping this forum is going to help me improve my game to the point where my winnings are consistent enough that when I hit a big score, like in a tournament, I can start playing the higher stakes without getting demolished.
  • Higher variance with tournaments. I would stick with the cash tables until you can grind a bankroll big enough to tackle the next level. Should have about 25 buy ins for the next level. If your making 3-5 per day that should be at least $100 for a full month. Shouldn't take you that long though.
