This tournament is:

4.94 Patience Factor with a Skill Level 3 out of 6
Hey OPRC, you should have stuck around that night at Rama. Turned out to be a good one.
As for the tournament there, whether or not it is statiscally worth it to play, i guess that all depends on you own perception of it. 77 players is NOT a huge field, so if you think you have the ability to make final 7 and get payed, then how could it be a bad investment. $500 to win $10k sounds good to me, again, if you think you have what it takes to make final table and final 7. But then again, if there is a good game going on the NL tables, with good stacks, it might just be more profitable to play at a regular table instead of the tournament. Your call.
While Rama's monthly tournaments are not as good a value as all the other Ontario casinos, they are still better compared to playing in any US tournament (with the 30% extra rake) or illegal club.
Thanks for the tidbits of advice on the Rama tourney Blondefish & Tilt, i am heading that way anyway, so i think i will see how the regular NLHE tables look, and if there isn't much going on there, then i will go in the tourney. Provided its not sold out when i get there, but when i last spoke to pokerpit, he said they had lots of seats still available. So, here's hoping.
Not really LOL, i lived in orillia for 3 yrs and spent most of my time either at the casino, or in Barrie. Orillia doesn't really have much to offer this time of year, except maybe for a few decent fishing spots and a not half bad golf course. Other then that...she's pretty much S.O.L . Why not get her to take up gambling, its a fantastic way to kill a few hours.
Did anybody play in last month's tournament and remember if the structure was improved? A friend wants me to play in this month's tournament and claimed that the structure wasn't as bad as before (more blind levels or more than 25 minutes?), but the link in Casino Rama's website doesn't work.

It is a bad -EV "investment" if the rake is high and the structure does not give you enough play to use your skill to beat that rake. The rake of 14% is high compared to GBH's 9%, so anybody that wants to play a ~$500 tournament should play at GBH first before Rama. This is also why the 30% withholding tax makes the US the worst place in the world for Canadians to buy into a poker tournament.
