How much $$ do you think these chips are worth?

Hi ,

I found someone who's selling these poker chips , the guy said a client ordered them from him a couple years ago and they are no longer in business so he has like 70,000 of these chips just taking up space in his warehouse.

so my question is how much do you think these chips are worth a piece ?

It says there 11.5 grams chips thats about all I know about em.

I'm not fimilar with how "torunment style" chips are priced as oppose to regular cash game chips (with denomintations on them)

please tell me how much you think there worth and then ill tell you how much I am buying 2,000 of em for or if I should buy even more cause its a really good deal or not.

(im sure I cant be gettting ripped off at this price but I just wanted to know if I would buy more and maybe try to resell them myself for more)

  • 11.5 g = instant junk without even needing to look at them.
  • Care to elborate?

what do you know about poker chips (no offense just trying to understand better)

is it the less weight the better is that how it works .. i.e. 9g chips are always better then 13.5g chips

honestly this guy knows so little about em that I think he just put 11.5g on the add cause thats what everyone else is usually selling (theres a chance they MAY NOT be 11.5g) I wish I hade a scale now that weighed grams but I dont lol

    Fixed it for you.

To be honest, my first impression of the pix shown was that they were basically another style of "dice" chip. Not at moose's level of knowledge, though, for what it's worth. Hey, if you like 'em, great. What does it matter what we think, right?
  • oh ok , I want to avoid "dice" chips .. so maybe I wont buy them after all.

though I dont know how you can tell honestly they look like they COULD be one of a regular tournment style chip though what do I know ..

I guess I'll go find out theres only one way to know for sure ..

but im not too happy now about it..
  • These are regular slugged plastic chips. There is an inlay (sticker) on the chips which adds to the value (slightly) so maybe $60-$80 US per 500 or so. You can definitely pick these chips up all over the interwebby with a case, cards, dealer buttons, dice (WTF?) etc but no inlay sticker for $80 US or less.
  • ok well hes giving me 2,000 for $50 so I know its a good deal

but now I know what you are saying there these ones

with a sticker slapped on them , if thats the case then I do not want them.

I already have those chips and thats why im looking to upgrade so I guess my search will continue.

    Thank you for the comment(s)
  • There is no difference materially between tournament poker chips and cash poker chips. Some people like denoms, some don't. At least it solves the problem of everyone always asking - now what are these worth? But it removes flexibility if sometimes you want to use them for cash games and sometimes for tournaments. However without denoms it is bad to use them for both because someone could buy into the tournament, put some chips in his pocket and cash them in later in the cash game. I looked closely at the inlay and the sticker says Tournament Poker - Cambridge. Interesting.

I assume also that you could peel the sticker off. But unlikely you could retail the chips in enough quantity to show a reasonable profit. Everybody and their uncle has these slugged chips for sale and you would be competing against all the mass marketers on the internet and ebay.

You want good chips - go to chiptalk.net.
