Great Blue Heron Casino - March 11

Great Blue Heron Casino's next tournament is on Wednesday, March 11, 10 AM, with a $500+$50 buy-in. One or more forumers have been cashing in every GBH event since last year! :wav: At least four forumers are on the leaderboard for the December championship freeroll.

Thanks to forumer PIRANHA for again hosting a rake-free GBH satellite today. One of the previous participants won the ~$12,000 Shootout last week at GBH, the first ever shootout tournament in an Ontario casino, while forumer SteveKerr got second place. While trying to multi-table with the live satellite, online Monthly Million (lost >40K chips on a 4-outer river) and EPT satellite finals (second place), I lost in all three games. When the satellite got down to heads up, there was a complicated chop proposed. The player offered the GBH seat took a long time to decide and eventually asked me, and after doing the calculations, I said that if it was me, I would gladly accept the deal.

The club members have decided to invade the GBH event, so there may be up to seven satellite participants there. Hopefully, the top two prizes will again be won by a satellite participant and forumer.

  • I just reserved my seat.
  • I really gotta stop being stuck in school and play some of these...if only they would stop being 11 handed...

Weren't they used to be 11 handed? Or cash game being 11 handed?
  • 11 tables 10 handed
  • I am willing to bet that I can count and that it is 11-handed with ten tables. This is why I fold AA preflop at GBH! ;) There are two tables open for cash games at the beginning of the tournament.
  • I am pretty sure we have been 10 handed at the January 14 and February 11 Tournaments and 8 Handed at the shootout.

The 2008 Tournaments were definately 11 Handed

  • Steve is correct. In 2008 it was 10 tables, 11 handed. As of 2009 it's 11 tables, 10 handed.
  • I just registered...52 players so far.

Ahh ok. Nice to see that change for sure...

LOL, even GBH doesn't know this as they confirmed on the phone that the tournaments are 11-handed. ???

    LOL

In the January Tournament before it started players were confused wher to sit as they were used to 11 handed and then the floor person came over and said that the tables are for the tournament will be 10 handed
  • I learned how to count and it is indeed 10-player tables this year. Unfortunately, I still haven't learned to close my car trunk after just opening it, so I kept getting paged during the tournament. Since I'm also deaf and dumb, I ignored the pages until the break when the winner of the rake-free satellite asked what was wrong with my car that they kept announcing my license plate. :-[

As usual, a forumer made it to the money. Congratulations to forumers SteveKerr and Dead Money for dominating GBH and being #1 and #2 in the leaderboard.
  • GBH's $1000+$100 Spring Classic with almost $110,000 prize pool is on Wednesday, April 8. There are 90 seats available at this moment. Aside from the usual couple of forumers and the winner of this Sunday's rake-free satellite, is anybody else planning to play?
  • Note that today is the final day to purchase/cancel a seat by phone for the biggest tournament in Ontario this year so far.
