Has anyone here played in one of their tournaments?

WPTAPL International - World Poker Tour Amateur Poker League

I think I might visit a local one this Sunday in Port Colborne just to see what it's all about.

    Looks like most are held in bars yes...and no real money, just points.

    I've been playing the WPT-APL here in Niagara since they got started last Oct/Nov-ish. I play mostly in the north end, St.Kitts/Thorold.
    It's all good. Met a lot of good people. Had a conversation just last night at The Flatts event about the increase in play quality since the league started. Playing live tournys seems to be bringing everyones game up.
    Players are very broad range, home game players/ internet players, longtime and brand new players. I know of at least one Fallview dealer in the league, always nice to have him at your table when the side pots start getting divided.
    Mostly 20-50 players per event. The PC event is held at the Reeb house and has one of the smaller fields. I heard just yesterday that a Dunnville event will be starting.
    From playing the league, myself and 14 others have won our way through to the national tourny in April, winner there gets a WPT entery in Vegas.
